ORLANDO
“Whatever it is, say it, and I will
have it done,” he said, only making the ache in my heart burn more.
Swallowing my pride I nodded. “I
wish for you to walk Mel down the aisle.”
There was a pause, and he searched
my eyes. “Are you sure?”
I nodded. My bambina dolce deserved to walk down the aisle and be proud. She
would argue about how proud she was of me already. How she didn’t care that I
would cough throughout the ceremony, or that I needed to be pushed down the
aisle, or the fact that more people would be focused on me rather than her. But
I cared, and I did not want that. If I went and our enemies saw how weak I was,
they would try to use that against her, against her empire.
“I will call Evelyn, and she will
have everything ready in three days. You can watch from a secret room. No one
will see you,” he said with a grateful nod. Offering any more than that, and he
might as well carve out my heart.
“Do you not feel like we are
Pandora just as she is about to open her box?” I grinned at him. “They will
bring chaos like we never could, and we did it simply with the hope of
bettering them for the future.”
Sedric chortled before finishing
off his brandy. “Yes, in a twisted sort of way.”
“We do live in a twisted world,” I
replied as the door opened to reveal Adriana once again.
“Yes?”
“Mr. Giovanni, Mr. Callahan. I am
sorry to intrude, but I was told to come get you both,” she said with her head
down.
“Why is that?” Sedric asked with a
coldness in his voice that he hadn’t had since our conversation started.
“The Boss and Mr. Callahan
apparently cleared the room in the basement so they could be alone and no one
was to enter. But, a few minutes later, a gun went off.”
Simone's Review

“Everyone is ruthless. They just don’t know it.”
When reviewing a book I am always looking for a strong kick-ass leading lady. I've stumbled upon a few in the past but, SWEET JESUS!!, I have found the ultimate heroine that is even more Kick-Ass than the leading man, and in this story, it takes some beating.
“He pulls a knife,
you pull a gun,
he sends one of yours to the hospital,
you send one of his to the morgue . . .”
So this story is about Melody Giovanni and Liam Callahan, who both come from rival mafia families. Their families arrange for them to be married so that both mafia families can come together and become even more powerful against their enemies. Both are hot headed and trigger happy when it comes to hurting or killing, Mel and Liam both think they can out do the other. This leads to a very blood thirsty first meeting, both trying to kill each other but with the intent of not actually doing so. They both have sadistic tenancies and are scary as hell but I could not help freaking loving this couple in a slightly sick twisted way.
Wow, this story is fast paced! One minute you're fanning yourself at their hardcore/sadistic bedroom antics to covering your eyes at their cold blooded actions to anyone who dares to confront or cross them. They are both ruthless on their own but together, they are unstoppable, and to be honest, your worst nightmare.
"I would rather shoot you, but since I can't, I will sexually frustrate you instead. Do not rip my clothing."
"Bitch is going to kill me."
This story really did blow my mind BIG TIME. J J McAvoy's writing style is flawless, her characters are well developed and leave you shuddering and cringing one minute while drooling and swooning the next. The unpredictable twists and turns left me feeling kinda dizzy but I enjoyed every last word. This was such a unique, ugly, crazy, sex on stick story and I just cant wait to read more by this author as I am left with my mouth hanging wide open wanting more.
