Blog Tour: Girl Lost by Nazarea Andrews + 5* review + teaser + Giveaway

Title: Girl Lost
Author: Nazarea Andrews
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: May 1, 2014

Synopsis

Northern was supposed to be a fresh start—a place where people didn’t know who I was or how I had spent years in and out of mental institutes. People didn't know about my parents death or the island no one heard of. But when Peter sits next to me in lit class, I can’t stop the memories, and I don’t want to. He looks too much like the boy from the island, and despite my best intentions, coaxes my secrets from me.

He’s gorgeous, irresistible, a little mad, and completely lost—we are a pair of broken cogs in a world neither of us truly fits into. And he listens when I talk, about the past and the terrifying future. He is somehow gentle and fierce, heartbreaking in his devotion and savage in his defense.

When Belle, his best friend, shows up, pale and lovely and sick, Peter pulls away from me, a startling withdrawal. It’s a relationship that scares and confuses me. She is at times warm and friendly, and other times is violent and unpredictable.

Peter says that he wants me, but refuses to let himself get close. And there are secrets, surrounding both of us, that border on nightmares. As the memories close in, as Belle gets sicker and more violent, I’m torn between what is true and what I believe, and what this magical boy knows about my mysterious past.

*Suitable for 17+. A romantic contemporary retelling of the boy who never grew up.

Simone's Review

* ARC received in return for an honest review

Nazarea Andrews has taken this classic magical fairy tale, that I loved as a child, and put her own dark twist into it so I was intrigued to see how this story would unfold when told in present day.
The cover itself just oozes enchanted and magical and I am a big fan of fantasy, and also Nazarea Andrews, so I wasted no time into delving into this one.......

After finishing Girl Lost I almost feel like it was the sequel to the original story as, when a child grows up they lose all their naivety and innocence. They forget things that have happened in the past or maybe have memories that the mind thinks are just dreams. It's easy to forget these important childhood memories, as the memories will make you remember what was real and what was a just a dream!!

So if you ever wondered what happened to Peter now that's he all grown up, grab yourself a copy of Girl Lost and delve in!!

We meet Gwendolyn as she starts her first year at Northern University. Gwendolyn's aunt, brother and psychiatrist are all very edgy as she has been seeing an imaginary friend she calls "Boy". She swears he is real but everyone else thinks it is just a figment of her imagination. She's been in and out of institutions for years, so her family are worried she won't be able to handle life, emotionally, at University away from her family or her psychiatrist. This makes Gwendolyn even more determined to prove them all wrong and that she's better and can handle everyday life by herself.

So when Peter turns up in one of her classes looking, talking and with mannerisms like "Boy" Gwen starts to question her own sanity. She knows she should stay away from him but being with him seems so natural and right while, in her head, she knows she should stay away. I'm loving the fact that Peter grew up all alpha male and "Boy" hot dominant and sexy too!! But still having that 'boy lost' about him too just makes him even more swoon worthy!!

"Then stay with me." he says softly
"For how long?"- Gwen
"Pixie, I'm a greedy thief. Don't you know I would only ever want forever?"

"I love you, Gwendy, and I'll give you anything I possibly can. But don't ask me to share you."

He kisses with raw passion. There is something desperate about the way he holds me to him.
He kisses me like he's waited years for this one moment, like he can't quite believe it's real.

The Lost Boys play a small part in the background of this story, its really only Tank that you get a little more of and, to be honest, I really did take to him even though he only turns up now and then. We also have Tinkerbell turning up in the form of Peter's best friend but she is a lot more bitchy and kick-arse than the Tinkerbell I remember and my, does she pack a mean punch! She also has it in for Gwen from the word go as Peter loves her as a friend while she is in love with him and will not let him go without a fight!!

“Peter? He’s a thief. The best and worst of all of us. He’s ours, and you stole him.”

I really did love this all grown up fairytale but hope it carries on as I feel that it ended on a bit of a cliff hanger. But, having said that, it was still a very enjoyable read and I look forward to reading more from Nazarea Andrews.
