OhMyGod, this book blew me away, 5 stars is no where near enough!!! 

Cruel and Beautiful is a powerful, heartbreaking and heartwarming collaboration between A.M. Hargrove and Terri E. Laine. When I was given the prologue to read it had me in tears, I thought "What an opener!!!" and couldn't wait for the rest. It totally messed with my head and my heart, the last sentence in the book gave me goosebumps. This has to be one of my favourite reads of the year....AMAZING!!!  .

I absolutely love, love, LOVED this book so much!! It's an emotional, gut wrencher of a story that had my heart aching one minute then soaring the next. I cried so hard my throat hurt and had to stop reading on more than one occassion because I couldn't see through my tears. The epilogue nearly ended me and, although I was sobbing, I found I was laughing through my tears. I had a huge book hang over for at least a week afterwards. It's been quite a while since a book has affected me this way and the fact that parts of the story were based on actual real life events gives more weight to this story and makes it all the more powerful, emotional and real.

Cruel and Beautiful goes between present and past, giving us the back story of how Cate and Drew met until we are brought up to present day. I can't say much without revealing the plot but there's quite a twist that had my jaw dropping on more than one occassion  and had me totally confused as to where the story was going that I was left reeling towards the end! 

Cruel and Beautiful is a touching, heart warming story of true love with humour, passion and heartache woven through it and I can't recommend it highly enough. I urge you to go 1-click NOW, you won't regret it. Trust me.

One day, on her way home from work as a sales manager A. M. Hargrove realized her life was on fast forward and if she didn't do something soon, it would be too late to write that work of fiction she had been dreaming of her whole life. So she rolled down the passenger window of her fabulous (not) company car and tossed out her leather briefcase. Luckily, the pedestrian in the direct line of fire was a dodge ball pro and had über quick reflexes enabling him to avoid getting bashed in the head. Feeling a tad guilty about the near miss, A. M. made a speedy turn down a deserted side street before tossing her crummy, outdated piece-of-you-know-what laptop out the window. She breathed a liberating sigh of relief, picked up her cell phone, called her boss, and quit her job. Grinning, she made another call to her hubs and told him of her new adventure (after making sure his heart was beating properly again).

So began A. M. Hargrove's career as a Naughty and Nice Romance Author.

Terri E. Laine


Wife and mother of three, I've always been an avid reader. In my early years, my best friend and I would tell each other stories over the phone when we were bored. We called them our "soap operas" and generally revolved around whatever boy we liked at the time.
