He is a sexy-as-hell and hot-as-sin MMA fighter turned Hollywood actor. And his name is Keifer Rogan.
I freakin LOVED this book, I was hooked from the traumatic prologue!! My emotions were all over the place fthroughout, my heart was racing, my palms sweating, with the tension and suspense. I was shouting and swearing in disbelief and anger at certain parts. Michelle, you really know how to write a bad guy and the bad guys in Tough Enough were sleazy and nasty!!
Okay, now I've got that out my system...
Tough Enough is the second book in the Tall, Dark and Dangerous Trilogy and we first meet Keifer Rogan in book #1, Strong Enough. Even though it was just a teasing glimpse I knew he would be special and I wasn't wrong. Although Tough Enough could be read as a stand alone, I strongly recommend you read Strong Enough first to get the best from the plot thread and avoid possible spoilers.
As always M. Leighton has spun a heart wrenching and heart warming story with a plot to keep you in gripped in suspense until the very end and created such well developed and believable characters who stay with you long after you finish their story. You can't help the strong reactions ripping through you at her clever and jaw dropping plot twists. She has a knack of wringing out every last drop of emotion from the reader, so much so that you feel like you've just gone ten rounds in the ring - which is pretty apt in this case.
I love Rogan, he makes my heart soar, he is so adorable and hot! He always put others well being before his own. He is always there when needed, laying his life down for those he loves...his brother, his Special Ops 'family' and Katie.
When it comes to Katie, there is nothing he won't do for her. Katie is a make-up artist on the set of a television studio, Rogan has just joined the cast and Katie is assigned to do his make-up. Rogan takes one look at her and goes all out to attract her attention and, eventually, win her heart. Rogan is so thoughtful and endearing in the way he always tries to make her feel comfortable and at ease, he recognises a kindred soul and knows her secrets and fears run deep. He has a huge romantic streak where Katie is involved, he treats her like the precious jewel he sees her as. Oh, he melted my heart *sighs*And maan did I mention he is H.O.T?!!!
Katie suffered an horrific ordeal at the hands of her brutal ex and it nearly killed her, literally and mentally. She spends her days, like every other since her ordeal, keeping her head down and blending into the shadows, not making waves, just trying to be invisible. It takes Rogan to see her as she really is and bring the 'real Katie' into the light and out of the shadows. Katie just wants a quiet life but she doesn't reckon on Rogan and her scheming, but funny, best friend.
My heart hurt so much for Katie and what she endured. But for all that she has a quiet inner strength waiting to burst through, she just needs something or someone to give her a reason to fight. To live.
Rogan and Katie were perfect for each other, they had such a sweet but passionate chemistry that burned up my kindle. I think they could be my new favourite couple, I loved them so much.
Every time I pick up a new M. Leighton novel I find myself saying, "Michelle, you've done it again. This is better than your last book." And yes, I have said the same about Tough Enough, I love, love, LOVED it!!
I smiled, panted, sighed, laughed out loud, gasped in shock and yelled my way through this book, I loved it!
