Seth Morgan has returned home after two years spent building an alliance that will take his family's crime syndicate to a new level in New York City's black collar society. He expects a warm welcome as heir of the Morgan empire. He hopes to finally marry Nicolette, the woman he's loved his whole life.
What he finds is a different world, one where his family's legacy is in ruins. His big brother, Caleb, has changed into someone cold and bitter, plotting to overthrow their patriarch. And Nicolette, daughter of the criminal banking industry, has left the family entirely.
When a vicious misunderstanding leaves Caleb dead, Seth is left reeling. Desperate for truth, Seth is forced to turn to his only remaining cousin, Emma, for support. As he tries to mend his relationship with Nicolette, he begins a search for answers that will take him from the dirty streets to the highest reaches of their illicit empire.
Torn between the desire to protect those who mean the most to him, and a need to learn more about Caleb's death, he grows distant to protect them. As each secret surfaces, he realizes that the only way to restore his family is to take his place at its head, and fully embrace the brutal way they live.

Simone's Review

*ARC received in exchange for an honest review

Prince of Blood and Steel  is the second book I have read from Nazarea Andrews, the first I absolutely loved, but a first read for AJ Elmore. So when the chance to review an arc from this author came up I jumped up and snatched it as quick as I could, cleared my day, put my day's supply of coffee in my pot and fired my up kindle!!

I was then sucked into mafia-crazed underworld of family, crime, betrayal and love and wow, this book is one roller coaster of emotions with twists and turns you don't see coming along the way. This story really doesn't hold back and really does pack a punch.

The story is so well written with well developed characters that, while reading it's like watching a film inside your head. There's so many characters that play a crucial part in this web of lies and betrayal and as you delve deeper it becomes more clearer as you find more pieces to this puzzle, the truth behind the lies and deceit start to become more clearer.

After his father's death, Seth is sent by his uncle to build the family relations in Cuba. But having returned back home two years later he quickly learns that things have changed but not for the good, for him or his family. He also hopes to be welcomed back as the rightful heir to the family empire and to finally marry Nicolette who is the love of his life. I do love a strong alpha male who takes charge but with Seth, even though he had me fanning myself at times, I also found him slightly detached from his emotions. And some of his actions I didn't agree with, especially concerning one woman *shakes head* but then, I cannot deny he's HOT and his loyalty to his family makes up for that.

We then have Emma who is Seth's cousin, I love their close relationship. They adore, trust and protect each other. Now, if they weren't cousins I would say they would be the perfect fit for lovers! ( I know, slightly twisted) but just my opinion. Of course I love a strong leading lady and Emma steps up on top spot for me, she is strong, sassy and when needed damn kick-ass. Rama also grew on me as the story unfolded you saw that he really did care for Emma and wanted to protect her.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and really did not want it to end, so I am now anxiously awaiting what the next book has in store for the Morgan family and also what's next for Andrews and Elmore.
