I want to start this review by saying how much I enjoyed this lighthearted engaging little read, it was so delicious I lapped it up in one sitting. It really was chick-lit at its best. I don't normally do chick-lit, but Checking Inn has an added twist of quirkiness about it with lots of humour for us girls who like everything in its right place or it annoys the hell out of us, right??  (well yeah, that's kinda me too, so I can relate a little) and it's usually a man that comes along and disrupts it all.
Emily Harper's style of writing is unique and quirky. She makes this modern day Miss Marple come to life, introducing each and every character that all come with their own witty, hilarious personalities while embarking on this humorous cloak and dagger murder mystery.

Kate was, so far, my favourite character. Not my usual strong leading lady, but she definitely made up for that with her hilarious wit and charm. Her OCD was very well written, it was so much part of her charm and personality. Kate's OCD really did take charge of her daily routine, the way she would sort the pens according to their colour, business cards all in the same place and that means not one out of place, just the way her life was all..Lists, Lists and more Lists.

We then met Ben who is the polar opposite of Kate. Clothes always wrinkled, hair in a mess, disorganised, but on the flip side - smoking hot police officer with a kind sensitive side. So get ready for Kate to make you giggle and gaspnas she finds her reviewer/guest murdered in her very own Inn! With a hilarious dysfunctional cast of characters in tow Kate must try to keep this murder from her other guest and the media, as this will lead to bad press for Summerside Inn and she doesn't want to see all that she has worked for go down the drain.

Ben and Kate really do complement each other, so opposite but so right for each other. I loved that Kate loved Ben for all the things she would not allow in her daily ritual - messy, disorganised, nothing having a place...driving her crazy but in all the right places!

Checking Inn is a fun, short read that kept me gripped from start to finish. I loved the twist and turns throughout the story with the LOL moments that come quick and fast. I will definitely be adding more books from Emily Harper on my TBR list!!
