Author: Jennifer Miller
Release Date: January 13, 2014
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Synopsis

There is a place in all of us where our deepest secrets lie in wait for their moment to surface, and surface they will.
After living through a real live nightmare, Olivia wants nothing but to forget. Forget and move on. But how do you forget something that has stained your soul and forces you to lie to your loved ones? Even if your intentions are to spare them the horrors of the truth?
Luke knows Olivia is not as recovered as she would have him believe. He can see the pain she tries to keep hidden behind her eyes, and knows she has not told him everything. But how do you save someone who won’t let you in? Where shame holds Olivia captive, Luke suffers through the guilt of not protecting the one person he loves more than anything.
Can two people who have suffered so dearly find a way to come together or will they risk the dreams they have placed in each other’s hearts? Can love find a way where forgiveness cannot?

Excerpt

“HELP! I’VE BEEN KIDNAPPED. SOMEONE HEL…”
Suddenly, I am grabbed from behind and dragged into the bedroom and thrown on the bed like a rag doll. I try to roll onto my back but instead a weight settles on my back, and my face gets shoved into the mattress.
“Shut the fuck up, bitch.”
The voice is not Deacon’s. I freeze as shock runs through my body from head to toe, paralyzing me in fear.
“Lover boy isn’t here to save you. It might be worth facing his anger to shut you up permanently.”
I don’t speak. I’m afraid to move. Who is this man? He moves off me so he can roughly flip me over. I stare up into his hard eyes. He’s not an attractive man. Light hair, pointy nose, and lips so thin they’re hardly there at all. He has a scar that runs from the tip of his eyebrow to the middle of his cheek. “Leave me alone.”
“I don’t think I will… what does he call you? Princess? I don’t think I will, princess.” He says mockingly. Then, to my horror he runs his hand down the front of my body, squeezing my breasts painfully and then gripping my hip. His breathing starts quickening.
“No, please don’t touch me.”
“That’s right, beg, you bitch. Next time you will think twice about breaking the rules and trying to yell for help.”
Oh God. He’s going to hurt me, or worse. I do the only thing I can. I start struggling. I kick my legs like a three-year-old having a tantrum. I throw my head back and forth and get one of my hands loose and scrape my nails down the front of his face. “Let go of me!” I scream.

Andrea's review

*ARC received in return for an honest review.

It seems like I've been waiting forever for this sequel, I couldn't wait to find out what happened to Olivia since we last left her, those immortal and chilling words, "Hello Princess" kept going round in my head! I don't mind admitting that at first I was a bit afraid to start Pretty Little Dreams as, sometimes, the sequel isn't always what you imagine or hoped.

I can honestly say this sequel was WAY better than what I ever expected. I love, love, LOVED it!!!

I won't go into the story too much as I truly don't think I can without revealing spoilers (my pet hate) but I will say how I felt.

Pretty Little Dreams deals with the aftermath of the events which take place at the end of Pretty Little Lies.

From the first page to the very last I was hooked and only put it down to go to sleep, I actually fell asleep with my ipad in my hand!! Omigod, there were times where I was gripping my ipad so tight my knuckles were white and times where I was shouting out loud.

There is so much heartfelt emotion steeped in each page, my heart ached for Luke and Olivia as they each try to do what they think is the right thing to help each other get through their ordeal.
Olivia is such a feisty and strong person with a very impish sense of humour but she feels guilt and blames herself for what happened so she tries to deal with it the only way she knows how by putting on a brave face, pushing the events to the back of her mind and concentrate on the present but at what cost?

How can my heart melt but my body heat up at both at the same time? Two words...Luke Easton. Boy, he is the full package - hot, gorgeous, hunky, a gentleman and totally sexy. He certainly turned up the temperature a notch or two in MY house!!!! I absolutely adore Luke and the way he handles the whole situation is both endearing and heart breaking as he can't forgive himself and sees it as his as fault for what happened to Olivia.

Oh, and Pyper...I love her!! She is a fabulous BFF and is always there to help pick up the pieces regardless of how she may be feeling herself. She, also, thinks what happened to Olivia was her fault and believes, like Luke, that she could have done something to prevent it happening.

The dynamics and the wonderful easy going friendship between Luke, Olivia and Pyper are brilliant. Although most of the book deals with Luke and Olivia dealing with their feelings and trying to live their life as normally as possible, there are quite a lot of light and funny scenes too. The scenes at the grocery and the Army and Navy stores come to mind, I'm actually laughing now as I type! And the cooking incident with the eyelashes? That would happen to me!

I loved the little twist at the end, I sort of had my suspicions but didn't really see THAT coming!

Pretty Little Dreams is the perfect ending to a wonderful series and a MUST read. I'm already missing the trio but I am hoping that this isn't the last we've seen of them as I would love Pyper to have her own story, she deserves it.

Author Jennifer Miller was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, but now calls Arizona home. Jennifer’s love of reading began when she was a small child, and only continued to grow as she entered adulthood. Ever since winning a writing contest at the young age of nine, when she wrote a book about a girl with a pet unicorn, she’s dreamed of writing a book of her own.
Quickly learning that dreams don’t just fall into your lap, she knew she had to chase them herself and not be afraid to dream a little bigger. Most importantly, she is a wife and mother, and is very lucky to have a family that loves and supports her in all things. She also has an unhealthy addiction to handbags and chocolate covered strawberries, neither of which she cares to change.
