Release Day Launch: A Fighter's Desire by L.P. Dover + teaser + trailer + giveaway

Title: A Fighter's Desire
Author: L.P. Dover
Release Date: July 28, 2014

Synopsis

Two is always better than one.
Knowing a fighter’s desires and needs are one thing, but actually experiencing them is another. A Fighter’s Desire gives you not one, but two stories full of hardcore passion, angst, and action that’ll leave you breathless and aching for more.
Part One: Ryley and Camden Jameson, well-known MMA fighters and identical twins, were just as aggressive and passionate in the bed as they were in the ring. They loved a good fight, and that’s exactly what they got when they met Ashleigh Warren. The brothers had a habit of sharing things—including women—and she happened to be the only one they truly craved. However, the problem was getting her to agree to their proposition. It was one she couldn’t refuse, but she knew it wouldn’t be easy to win. Nonetheless, she sure as hell was going to enjoy it.
Part Two: Fighting temptation isn’t easy when you’re constantly around the one person you’ve desired more than any other. Gabriella Reynolds was warned by her brother, MMA Heavyweight Champion Matt Reynolds, to stay away from his friends; they only wanted one thing, and in the end they’d break her heart. She heard it, but the desire to have the one man she couldn’t led her down the forbidden path to pursue him; he also happens to be one of her brother’s best friends. Tyler Rushing can’t deny his attraction to her, and he’s afraid she’ll want more than what he can give her. When he finds out that’s not the case … everything changes. They have no choice but to keep their time a secret, and it’s a secret that’ll stay with them forever.

Title: Before You (Before & After #1)
Author: Amber Hart
Genre: Contemporary YA Romance

Synopsis

Some say love is deadly. Some say love is beautiful. I say it is both.

Faith Watters spent her junior year traveling the world, studying in exquisite places, before returning to Oviedo High School. From the outside her life is picture-perfect. Captain of the dance team. Popular. Happy. Too bad it’s all a lie.

It will haunt me. It will claim me. It will shatter me. And I don't care.

Eighteen-year-old Diego Alvarez hates his new life in the States, but staying in Cuba is not an option. Covered in tattoos and scars, Diego doesn't stand a chance of fitting in. Nor does he want to. His only concern is staying hidden from his past—a past, which if it were to surface, would cost him everything. Including his life.

At Oviedo High School, it seems that Faith Watters and Diego Alvarez do not belong together. But fate is as tricky as it is lovely. Freedom with no restraint is what they long for. What they get is something different entirely.

Love—it will ruin you and save you, both.

We Need Diverse Books

You know those books that pull you under flash-flood fast? Out of nowhere you’re submerged, and truth be told, you’re not even trying to come up for air. We all love books like that. Hook. Line. Sinker. One page turns into two pages turns into a novel that’s been devoured with a hungry heart because these books are MAGIC.

Part of the magic is due to the fact that we can see ourselves there. No matter the genre, the book grabs hold with a vise grip and there is no escaping the way it changes your life.

Now what if those books disappeared?

Would you be crushed? Lost? Dazed and confused? I know I would be. Or better yet, what if those books—the ones you love with all your soul, the ones you relate to on a personal level—weren’t available to you? Or what if they never existed? Just what if you were a part of the minority who isn’t a white lead character (and maybe you are), what then? I cannot imagine not seeing myself in books, not being able to relate to the characters, not feeling the powerful hold as I dive head first into a world of words.

But it happens every day.

How many books feature white American MC’s? While that’s great in some cases, I can’t help but ask:What about all the other people of the world?

            Where is the diversity?

Figurative classroom. Roll call time. Who here is white American? Who here is not? If you look closely, you’ll see that many people fit the “not” category. Where are their books? Where is their culture/background/ethnicity/skin tone/customs? I fear that the people who don’t see themselves in books will become the people who don’t read books. And it’s not just them. What about the white Americans who want to broaden their world knowledge? Or what about the people who want to read combined cultures?

Fact: I like to read different things. Makes it fun. Keeps it interesting. I get bored easily, so this is a must. I don’t always want to read about Americans like me. I would like to read about someone like my son, who is mixed race, or my husband, who is not American. I am not the only one who feels like this. Do you feel it too? The itch in your fingertips to turn pages that weave layers of diversity. I want to read more diverse characters like Allison Sekemoto, an Asian vampire in Julie Kagawa’s Blood of Eden series, or Shy Espinoza, a Mexican-American in Matt de la Peña’s The Living, or Park, an Asian-American in Rainbow Rowell’s Eleanor and Park, to name a few. But that’s just it. There are only a few books like this in Young Adult literature.

We need diverse books, people.

As a writer, and as a mother of a mixed-race child, and as a wife of a non-American, and as a human being, I feel a calling to shine my flashlight on the need for diverse books. But I’m only one person. Won’t you join me?

How you can make a difference:

Buy diverse books. Hashtag #WeNeedDiverseBooks in a campaign to call more diverse novels to light. Help kick-start a movement. Because that guy with a different skin tone than yours deserves to feel like a hero, too. So does the girl with an accent, and the child who is growing up in a world where they want to feel a sense of belonging. Or maybe even for the reader who wants to see something different than the norm. As a matter of fact, diversity should BE the norm. What a beautifully colorful literary concept.

I want people who see themselves in books to become people who write books and share books and spread the love of literature around the world. We can do it. And by we, I mean me. And by we, I mean you.

Until You Find Me by Amber Hart

“Amber Hart pushes contemporary romance to its wildest limits in this heart-pounding novel, the story of a girl who travels to Africa to protect the legacy of one man . . . and stays for the love of another.”

Raven Moore, a twenty-year-old college student from Michigan, feels out of place in the beautiful, treacherous jungles of Cameroon, staying in the habitat where her father gave his life to help protect endangered gorillas. He left home years ago; now Raven refuses to return home until she unravels the truth about his last days.

Raven certainly doesn’t count on crossing paths with a handsome young African hunter—especially one as charismatic and intense as Jospin Tondjii. Instantly, she’s hooked. But Jospin is hiding a dark truth: He is the heir to a powerful poaching empire, part of a ruthless black market that is responsible for the dwindling gorilla population.

Their fathers may have been enemies, but Raven and Jospin forge a bond that goes beyond blood, a relationship that is tested as Raven draws closer to the source of her father’s death. Can she and Jospin bear the weight of the secrets of the wild—and the secrets of their pasts? Or will the rain forest destroy them both?

Excerpt

“Are we okay?” I ask, looking into his beautiful blue eyes.
“Yeah,” he says before pulling me in for a kiss, “We’re good.”  The kiss is slow and sensual, but I can feel it picking up speed.
I pull back, “I need to deal with Brody first.”
“Yeah, I know,” he mumbles, “Actually, it should be me talking to him, not you.”
“You can talk to him when I’m done,” I say before leaning in and getting one more kiss.  Then I turn and head back out to where Brody is.
“Are you ready?”
“Yep,” I say as I walk out the door.  We walk down the steps toward the sidewalk.
“Your feet are going to freeze,” he says looking down at my flip-flops.
“I’m fine.  We need to talk.”
“Seriously Hails, Liam, after everything he’s done to you.  How do you sleep with him?” he asks frustrated.
“I didn’t plan it, it just kind of happened.”
“So you’re what, dating my brother now?”
“No.”
“What do you mean, no?” he stops to stare at me, waiting for an answer.
“We aren’t dating,” I stutter.
“Then what are you doing Haley?”
“Liam and I have an agreement.”

tag17My name is Hemy Knox and I’m a fucking heartbreaker . . . I’ve hurt the one person that means the most to me in life; the only woman I have ever fucking loved. I let the drugs, alcohol and wild life take over; consume me. I got her where I wanted her and ripped her fucking heart out. Since then, I’ve spent countless nights having dirty, meaningless sex with a multitude of people; only leaving them wanting and begging for more with no regrets. Some may even call me the devil; soulless. They look and judge, but there is one thing they don’t know; no one does. I want more than this life of stripping and sleeping around; the never ending party. I want love and everything that comes with it; that high that never ends. The problem is . . . I only want it with her. Onyx. She refuses to be mine . . . again. She’s smart and it’s a mother fucking pain in my ass; guarding her heart while ripping mine right out of my chiseled chest. I can’t say that I blame her. I always was a dumb ass when it came to the emotions of a woman, especially her. She wants to see me suffer as much as I made her; watch me wither and fucking die at her feet. She wants to crush me until I’m no longer breathing and I will let her, because it hurts far less than not having her as mine. I will stop at nothing to make her mine again. The pain only drives me harder; feeding my fury and giving me a reason to live . . . her.

***Author's note*** Due to strong language and a very high amount of sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

This is #2 in the Walk Of Shame series of novellas that will all be STANDALONE reads. This includes F/M and F/M/M so if you’re not into dirty sex scenes with filthy language, then this book is not for you. If you are . . . then, come meet the dirty boys of Walk Of Shame.

tag19My eyes meet Hemy’s and they stay there as the man quickly leaves us alone. “Lock the door,” I demand. Hemy locks the door with a smirk and walks over to stand in front of me. “No touching,” I whisper. “Just yourself.” Hemy grabs me by the hips and sets me on top of the table before walking away and taking a seat on the other side of the couch. The clean side. His eyes watch me with heated desire as I open the rest of my bustier and pull it open. My hands reach up to rub my pierced nipples causing Hemy to growl and adjust his cock. “Mmm . . . you like that?” I run my hands in between my breasts until they reach the top of my panties. “I want you to come for me, Hemy. I miss seeing you lose it over me.” He watches me as I drop down on my knees and spread my legs apart. I slowly slide my hand down the front of my panties and run my finger up and down my wetness before sliding a finger inside. “Mmm . . . I’m so wet for you.” I push in and out. “Can you hear it, Hemy? Remember how much you loved the sound of me being wet for you?” “Fuck yes.” He undoes his jeans before pulling down the zipper. “Fuck yourself faster and rub your nipple with your other hand.” I do as he says while moaning out. “That’s it, baby. Do it for me.” I position myself so that I’m sitting on my ass with my legs spread eagle in front of his face. I want to be sure he gets a good view. Then I pull my panties to the side and bare my wet, throbbing pussy to him. “That’s it, Onyx.” He pulls his cock out of his jeans and I instantly notice the piercings. It has me so turned on that I have to stop all movement in fear of getting off too soon. He notices me eyeing his cock and grins. “Imagine these steel bars deep inside you as I pound into. You know I like it deep, baby.” His hand starts stroking his cock and I instantly notice the bead of pre-cum that drips off the head and onto his hand. I bring my hand down to touch myself again and move at the same rhythm as Hemy as he strokes himself. His eyes never stray away from my fingers shoving themselves deep inside me. I’ve needed this for a long time. Ever since leaving Hemy, reaching orgasm as become almost close to impossible. Just watching him get off as I get myself off is enough to make me want to explode. He starts stroking harder and faster while sucking on his lip ring. “I’m about to blow, baby. I wish it were inside of you.” His words set me off and I find myself shaking from the most intense orgasm I have had in years. A few seconds later, Hemy is blowing his load into his free hand, moaning out my name. We both look at each other while coming down from our temporary high.

Blog Tour: Fear Me Not by Sara Wolf + 5* review + excerpt + giveaway

Title: Fear Me Not
Author: Sara Wolf
Release Date: June 20, 2014

Synopsis
The aliens crash-landed on Earth eleven years ago. And now, sixteen-year-old Victoria Hale feeds them. With her emotions.

Victoria is an EVE - an Emotion Vesicle Engraft - and one of few humans who are genetically capable of producing emotions for the Gutters to feed on. She's doing it for the money - her sister Alisa needs a good doctor, and fast. But what she didn't count on was being sent to the world's first desegregated high school for Gutters and humans. She didn't count on the paparazzi, the protestors, or the insane Gutter politics and government secrets. She didn't count on the crimson-eyed Gutter prince with an intriguing heart of cold iron, either.

She especially didn't count on murder.

But it's counting on her.

“I’m sorry,” Shadus’ voice says.

My eyes slide over – Shadus is standing right next to me, leaning on the bookshelf. I close my eyes and sigh.

“Don’t be. It’s me. Something’s wrong with me. I don’t know how to react like a normal person. Jeers, whispers, sneers, those are fine. I ignore them, punch something to make them hurt less. Compliments? I don’t know what to do with those.”

“You’re different. That’s not necessarily bad,” He offers. His long fingers skim over a row of books and he picks one out, flipping through the pages. “More literature in which the protagonist kisses his interest. Is it all your human writers are interested in? It hardly seems worthy enough to devote entire books to.”

“It’s not so bad,” I defend. “Kissing.”

“You speak from experience?” He asks.

“Second grade during the school play. Arnold Grady. We were backstage, behind the curtain. I thought it was a good time to go for it.”

“It was enjoyable, then?”

“Too wet.” I laugh, the memory burning like an old tattoo of embarrassment. “He was shorter than me - all the boys were. They’ve only started catching up this year, really.”

“I’m jealous.”

I raise an eyebrow. “What? Of the short boys?”

“Of your kiss. You speak of it fondly. Even if it was lacking technique, you still remember it. It must have been an important experience. I assume I will never know that sort of feeling - ”

I step into him. He jolts back, hitting the bookshelf. It shakes, and settles. I point up at him.

“Be thankful. You guys have the ceremony of flame. You don’t waste time with petty shit and he-likes-her-she-likes-him crap. Your future is arranged by your family. But us? Humans? We fish around blindly in a pool of seven billion people, hoping one of them isn’t too crazy or too incompatible with us, and we get so desperate that when we find someone we can stand for two minutes we decide to marry them for life, when in reality they’re all wrong for us. But we keep pretending they’re right, until we can’t anymore, and then we divorce them or break up and we get up and try again, and again, and it chips away at our tiny human hearts.”

He stares at me intently, as if I’m lecturing him and he’s trying his hardest to learn something from it. I snort.

“You’re lucky, Creeps. All you Gutters are lucky.”

“What you call ‘lucky’, I call ‘boring’,” Shadus says. “The human way of things may be more painful, but it sounds much more fun.”

I stride up to him, get in his face. His chest is rising and falling, his fists balled up. His ruby eyes stare down at me.

“Don’t do it,” He murmurs.

“Do what?”  I singsong.

He struggles with something inside himself, a pained look coming over his expression.

“Victoria -”

I press my head into the cradle where his neck meets his shoulder.

Simone's Review
*ARC received in return for an honest review

So I am left sitting here, having just finished Fear Me Not, thinking this story was really out of this world which is quite fitting, don't you think, for an Alien/ Sci Fi read? I'm not really into YA novels but I am a sucker for paranormal read and having read this story, by Sarah Wolf, it really did tick all my boxes I look for in a 5 star read.

"Eleven years ago, aliens landed on Earth..."

We have aliens which are known as Gutters, who landed on earth 11 years ago, that the government have now decided to create a school where some young Gutters and humans can live together and take the same classes to educate and help them understand each other's species. They are then each partnered up, one gutter and one human. The school is set up to help Gutters and humans with the understanding that they should live together in peace and not against each other. Part of the set up for the humans that attend this school is, they have to sign up to become an EVE (Emotion Vesicle Engraft). These are people, and one of few humans, who are genetically capable of producing emotions for the Gutters to feed on.Those humans that volunteer get a large sum of money and that's the only reason Victoria is there.

This leads me on to to our leading lady, Victoria. Having lost her mother, due to a stampede against aliens, Victoria really is not the gutters number one fan but having a sick sister in need of medical help and her father working all hours, the money coming in just is not enough. The only way she sees to make things better is to sign up to be an EVE. So on her first day, Vic is partnered up with a Gutter and this is when she meets Shadus.....

Brown eyes. I do a double take.

They aren’t quite brown, more like rust. The irises streak with red, like the colour of blood. They belong to a male Gutter. His eyes are shadowed by thick lashes and long bangs, his hair unkempt and messy. He’s slouched, elbows on the table behind him. His body is lean, like he doesn’t eat properly. His cheekbones are razor sharp and his shoulders are broad, his expression completely bored on his olive skin.

Shadus showed Vic from the start he wasn't there to make friends, with humans or even his fellow Gutters, he was very closed off and a bit of a loner. But for me this made him even more intriguing and found myself wanting to get to know him more. I just loved the way he started to take notice of Vic, she seemed to open his eyes and touch his heart. Seeing how their connection got stronger was heartwarming and funny at times when Shadus would try hard to make Vic like and notice him. It was like, from the onset, they were like two pieces of a puzzle that came together to complete the picture.

“It sounds like Creeps. Crepes. Creeps,” He tries experimentally.

There’s a silence.

“That was my attempt at human humour.”

"I don’t comment on the way his hand seems to fit nicely over mine - like two pieces of a puzzle."

I really do not want to give too much away of the story but Sarah Wolf really has created one hell of an awesome read, with well developed characters that you will be left thinking about for days after you finish to the brilliant story line that keeps you gripped onto the side of your sofa until the CLIFFFFHANGEEEERRR at the end.
NNNNNOOOOOOOO  I need the next instalment GOD DAMN NOW!!!

A definite recommended read for all you fans of sci fi and young adult novels.

Eighteen-year-old Isis Blake hasn’t fallen in love in three years, forty-three weeks, and two days. Or so she thinks.

My heart feels like it’s about to beat right out of my chest. Tanner is looking at me like he’s not good enough to touch me and like he can’t keep his fucking hands off me all at the same time. I inhale deep, my breath shaky as I try to find the words to say. I want to talk about it more – about what she is to him, about when she’s coming and what I’m going to have to deal with – but right now all I can think about is how his hands feel on my waist, and how I wish he would touch every inch of my body with those hands.
“Kiss me,” I breathe.
Tanner doesn’t waste another second. His lips find mine, soft and gentle at first, but then a fire consumes us both and I’m biting his neck as he lifts me from my chair. He kisses down my collarbone and then back up to my ear, sending chills cascading down my arms and legs. I moan softly, running my fingers through his hair and tugging a little as I pull his lips back to mine. He slides his tongue between my lips and takes my mouth, deepening the kiss as his hands explore my body.
“How long until dinner?” he pants between kisses.
“Maybe twenty minutes.”
“That’ll do,” he replies, carrying me to the couch.
Tanner’s hands are hungry as he positions himself on top of me, pulling the straps of my tank top down to kiss my shoulders. He nips and sucks softly, trailing a line from my shoulders, to my neck, across my collar bone, and back again. Slowly, he kisses a little lower, sucking at the swell just above the hem of my top. I inhale sharply, my fingers gripping his hair.
“You taste so sweet,” he mumbles against my skin, lighting it on fire. He lifts my shirt and slowly kisses down my stomach, stopping just above the hem of my shorts. He blazes a trail of fire with his tongue from one hip to the other, working the buttons and zipper until he has my shorts loose enough to pull down my shaking legs and throw across the room. He smiles up at me, his sexy half grin silently killing me, and then he completely takes my breath away – because he pulls my panties off with his teeth.
With. His. Teeth.
Suddenly, my heart is beating in my throat. I’m not a virgin, but I’m definitely no where near as experienced as Tanner, no matter how cocky my façade may be. My legs are shaking uncontrollably and I feel it start to move up to my hands. Tanner stops kissing my thighs and looks up at me, concern laden on his face.
“Are you okay?” he asks, moving to position himself on top of me again. He brushes the hair from my face and pulls my shaking hand to his lips, kissing my fingers softly as he waits for me to reply.
I nod, though not confidently. “I hate admitting this to you, but I’m not that experienced.”
He smiles devilishly, his eyes lighting the fire in my stomach again. “You think I don’t know that? Why do you think I’m going so slow?”
I let out of a puff of air, “This is slow?”
His grin grows wider, “Trust me – if I had it my way, your ankles would have been on my shoulders the first night I saw you.”

Andrea's Review

*ARC received in return for an honest review

Song Chaser is the second book in the Chasers series and can be read as a stand alone, as both books have a conclusion, but it's best to read Tag Chaser first as it does contain plot spoilers.

Having read Tag Chaser I was so glad that Tanner had his own story to tell as I'd felt so sorry for him in the first book and I really wanted to hear his side.

I loved Tag Chaser but I have to admit Song Chaser was even better! What I liked was the way Tanner and Kellee's relationship took a while to develop. I loved the fact that their relationship wasn't cut and dried straight after their first kiss, it was a slow burner even though there was an instant attraction between the couple. They both had major issues to overcome and come to terms with - he was still hung up over his feelings for his best friend, believing, for so long, that she was the perfect girl for his songs and she was caught up in the belief that she would leave and hurt the people she loved, the way her mother had when she left the family home when Kellee was thirteen, because everyone always told her she was just like her mother. I mean she left her family and home town to go college rather than stay at home to help her father run the family business so it must be true, right?

"Tanner, I come from a long line of fucked up. It's in my genes to hurt people, and I don't want to hurt you." ~ Kellee

Song Chaser took me on a wonderful roller coaster of emotions and there were times I shouted out and shook my head in disbelief over Tanner's frustrating behaviour toward Kellee - I wanted to punch him between the eyes at one point and shake him til he saw sense! But he did redeem himself on so many levels and by the time I got to the end of the book I was sighing and had a huge stupid grin on my face. I can't say much more without revealing spoilers from book #1 other than I loved Tanner and Kellee so much and was rooting for them to get their act together ASAP but, in a perverse way, hoping they didn't as I didn't want their story to end and the way it did end wasn't the way I'd expected it to but it was perfect.

Oh, I can't go without mentioning Kellee's grandmother - Mee Ma! I would've loved a grandma like her, she was hilarious and said things the way she saw it. She talked to Kellee more like a BFF than a grandparent. She was trying to get the hang of texting and some of the texts she sent Kellee were so funny. One of my favourite replies of Mee Ma's has to be when they were discussing Thanksgiving and Kellee's obvious attraction to Tanner.

"I can handle the gobbler, you just worry about your cock. - Mee Ma! -  ;)"

These books are the first I've read from Kandi Steiner and I can tell you they definitely won't be the last. I now have a new author to stalk follow.

If you love a feel-good romance with lots of hotness (oh yes, there was definitely a LOT of heat!) some emotional upheaval to get you shouting out and gripping your kindle with tension then make Song Chaser your next read, you won't regret it. Go 1-click today.

Who inspired you to start writing?
My mom, definitely. She's actually very into reading like I am and is a great writer herself. I hope to one day convince her to write a novel, too. She inspired me when I was very young and encouraged me to pursue my love of writing, no matter what. Everything I've written from awful love poems in high school (yuck!) to decent pieces in college, she has always been there for me.

Why romance?
Great question! I have no idea. I always pictured myself writing non-fiction or nothing at all, but one of my final capstone courses in college was an advanced fiction course that really turned me on to the possibilities of creating a story. Why romance specifically? Well, we could blame it on my husband for showing me love so early in life, but it's probably more Disney's fault than anyone else's. I'm a girl, I love to love, what could be better than romance writing?

How do you write your novels?
Sporadically and without any structure at all. Sometimes I'll be driving and I'll whip out my phone and record something to write down later. Sometimes I'll write a scene and sometimes I'll just write about my character to get to know them better. Eventually, I sit down and map everything out so that I don't forget anything (blonde moments are a habit for me) and then I slowly start piecing it all together. It makes sense to me, but if I told any of my professors this they might kill me lol.

When did you know you wanted to write a novel?
Honestly, it hit me out of the blue. I got the idea for Tag Chaser when I was in the shower and I just couldn't shake it. I was dreaming about the characters, writing random scenes in my head, and just thinking about them constantly. I decided it was a sign to stop being so scared of failure and just write it. The way I see it, the worst thing that could happen is no one likes it - and in that case it will still be loved by me and that's what matters.

Why should readers pick up Tag Chaser?
Tag Chaser is a unique story that I think hasn’t been told yet. Often times we fall in love with characters who are so perfect, either individually or for each other. Tag Chaser is about exploring our imperfections and learning not to fight that chemistry that sometimes we just feel, whether it’s easy or not. I think anyone who reads Tag Chaser will laugh and love, and those are both two very beautiful things.

Kandi Steiner is a Creative Writing and Advertising/Public Relations graduate from the University of Central Florida living in Tampa with her husband. Kandi works full time as a social media specialist, but also works part time as a Zumba fitness instructor and blackjack dealer.

Kandi started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.” She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a die hard hopeless romantic (like most girls brought up on Disney movies).

When Kandi isn’t working or writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, talking with her extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys beach days, movie marathons, live music, craft beer and sweet wine – not necessarily in that order.
