Cover Reveal: Black Horse by Addison Kline + giveaway

Coming on June 28th!

Black Horse by Addison Kline

An erotic Romantic Suspense Novel that will leave you gasping for air...

Synopsis

There is no sensation, no experience more delicious and tempting to the senses than the taste of forbidden love. The longing… The desire… The unquenched thirst for his touch. He was the man I was never supposed to love. I was supposed to hate him. I suppose part of me did and that is what made the desire so much more intense. He set a fire under my skin that burned white hot with every smoldering glance. He sets my soul ablaze, the slow burn of passion aching in every inch of my body.

Black Horse. The name haunted my dreams… But regardless of family vendettas, old hurts and contemptuous blood shed, the heart wants what it wants… and mine has a mind of its own and my mind is set on Colton McClain.

His family is known by his father’s nickname: Black Horse. Like one of the four horses flying out of the gates of hell, Tom “Black Horse” McClain ripped my world apart fifteen years ago. I was only seven when I found my mother and father dead in their beds, with Tom McClain standing over them with a blood stained butcher knife. He would have come for me, too, had my brothers not saved me. Seth, my older brother, swooped me up before I had the chance to scream and covered my mouth with his hand.

Tom McClain sought out the services of my father in a time of great need. My father, Nathan Ford, was a highly reputable criminal defense attorney, who took on Tom’s case when he was accused of murdering his wife after she was caught in bed with another man. Tom didn’t have the money to pay for my father’s services, so he took on the case pro bono because he believed in Tom’s innocence. I remember my dad meeting with Tom in his study while my mother looked after Colton, my brothers and I in the kitchen. We had become very close. My brothers once considered Colton their best friend. Not anymore.

My father got Tom off on a technicality. The prosecution had no reliable witnesses and they weren’t about to rely on the testimony of a five year old boy; Colton himself. He had witnessed the whole ordeal himself. How does Tom repay my father for his kindess and generosity? He murdered him in his sleep. He killed Daddy first. Momma screamed when she saw a man standing over her bed, and that is what woke me. In just my nightgown and socks, I tip-toed down the hall past Timmy, Randy and Seth’s bedrooms and as I entered the doorway to Momma and Daddy’s room, Tom McClain plunged a knife through my mother’s chest. My blood ran cold. I tried to scream but no sound would come out. The next thing I knew, Seth had his hand over my mouth and we hid in the hall closet. Tears streamed down my face as my arms and legs shook. I could her Tom’s boot echo against the hard wood floor of the hall.

“Sssh… Don’t say a word…” I remember Seth urging.
The air in the closet was stifling; warm and dead like a coffin. I could hear my brothers’ heavy breathing. Our dog Micah’s frantic barking from the back yard. She knew something was horribly wrong. His bootfalls were getting closer… louder… I took a deep breath and didn’t dare exhale in fear that he would hear me. Somehow, I was able to stifle my tears, but something happened that was out of my control. My throat caught from my sobbing. Tom heard it. The foot steps intensified, beating a path to the closet door. Seth, still firmly holding me, swung around so I was facing the inside of the closet. I focused on the faded floral pattern of the shelf lining that was barely visible in the dark lighting of the closet. I focused on anything but the sound of Tom McClain’s approaching footsteps. Then a loud clicking sound made it impossible. The sound of a shot gun barrel banging into place. He didn’t even bother opening the door.

Bang! Bang! Then silence.

Out of instinct I jumped into the shelf before me and cowered behind the extra blankets mother kept neatly stored on the shelf. I was stunned that I was still alive, until reality set in. Seth had slumped down against the door of the closet, unrecognizable and motionless. The shotgun blast had obliterated his once handsome face.
I am supposed to hate Colton McClain, but I can’t. When the police showed up the next day, they found Colton locked in his father’s pick-up a block away, hungry, thirsty and distraught. He was taken away by the state and put in foster care because none of his relatives wanted to have anything to do with the Black Horse name. Black Horse was caught trying to jump the border with my father’s wallet in his pocket and $10,000 in cash in a duffel bag. He traveled alone, having abandoned Colton in his truck back in Oakely. I guess his boy knew too much. When officials apprehended him, they ran my Daddy’s license and discovered that he was found murdered. Tom pleaded insanity, but after a thorough psychiatric evaluation, it was concluded that Tom McClain knew exactly what he was doing. He was sentenced to prison for twenty years, having received a lenient judge; a rarity in the State of Texas.

My surviving brothers Randy and Tim could never know about Colton and I. They’ve had it out for him for years. Bloodlines run thick around here. The sins of the fathers will forever haunt the sons, and women are to stand back and stay out of the way. Well, I have something to say about that… Fuck that, Colton McClain didn’t murder my family. His father did… and he suffered just as much as we did. Now fifteen years after the crime that screwed both of our lives up royally, Black Horse is getting out of jail. Just four days until his release. Colton wants to hide me. He said we can run… Start over somewhere else. My brothers are armed to the teeth and a war is about to break out. I have no intentions of sitting down or running away like a little girl. We cannot hide from this anymore.

Our past does not own us, and we owe it to our hearts to show the world that love can arise from the darkest of places.

Having not read the Beautiful Bastard series and always hearing rave reviews about it, when Sweet Filthy Boy came up to review I wasted no time putting my hand up and grabbing this one. I had to have a taster of one of these books to see what all the fuss was about!!

And oh my!! I need to buy myself a maid's outfit, get my partner some lessons in speaking French (he is already a filthy boy, so got that covered) and get ourselves over to France and start misbehaving NOW!! Reading this book just made me want to go buy the Beautiful Bastard series, close myself in my bedroom and refuse to come out until I finished them all. I could kick and shake myself, why have I never read any of the books before??  *puts hand over face & shakes head*

So enough beating myself up, back to the review:

Mia and her two bff's, Harlow & Lola, just graduated college. Mia has one weekend to let her hair down before she is off to business school in Boston, more on her father's orders than her of her own choice. Mia feels obligated to her father to follow through on this but she is at a crossroads in her life and is unsure what direction she wants to take it in. But this weekend is to do what she wants, so she takes the bull by the horns and just goes along with the ride.

This leads to one drunken night in Vegas. Add sweet sexy girl, meets sweet filthy boy who wake up being married the next morning!! Better still, Mia cannot remember the night before and the promises they both made to each other. All Mia has is a drunken hand written letter she wrote to herself, asking Ansel to give it to her the next morning when she sobers up, plus a ring on her finger. Then to add to her confusion Ansel gives her another path to her crossroads to consider.........

"You should come to Paris with me."
"Ha. Okay."
He studies me for a long beat.
"I'm serious."

Baise-moi. Plus fort. Yes this is what I would say too Ansel, if I ever met this Sweet Filthy Boy. Holy hell this boy just made the French language a whole lot hotter and filthier!! I want to shout Viva La Ansel  from the top of the Eiffel Tower (when I get there that is). It's hard to believe that while Ansel is so filthy between the sheets he is equally so sweet and had me holding on to my panties while melting in to a hot mess on the floor. Wow this boy is intense!!

Slowly, we catch our breath and his mouth finds his way to mine. He kisses me forever like this-and I let him-it's the only way I can tell him I love him even as I'm also saying goodbye.

To be honest, I got so deliciously lost in Ansel and Mia's passion for each other it was hard to come up for air sometimes. They consumed me to the last page, while enjoying their other rather creative sex roles they created!! (may have given me a few new ideas).

"Do you think you could ever, he starts after a few beats silence, his lips pulled up to one side in a smile, "like me" my chest squeezes at the earnest vulnerability in his expression. I nod, showing what feels like a bowling ball in my throat before saying, "I'm already in like with you"

I loved it!! Or should I say j'ai adore this book it is so beautifully written and had just the right balance of humour and hot, sometimes kinky, sex. There were many times I found Ansel just took it to a whole new level. I mean the French language is sexy, but Ansel talking in French just got a whole lot dirtier and filthier. The sweet side of Ansel was so endearing, he had me swooning and sighing and a few tears along the way. He tried so hard to please everyone, maybe leading too much with his heart, while needing to think with his head but that made me love him that much more.

“You just implied you’re banging me tonight.”
His grin gets bigger as his hands snake around my waist. “Play your cards right.”
“I forgot my cards.”
His smile wilts dramatically. “But I did bring my penis.”

I definitely recommend this book to any one who wants a sweet, hot, filthy read. I really enjoyed Sweet Filthy Boy and I already cannot wait for the next book in the series, as I want more of Harlow and Finn's story but in the mean time I will be off downloading the BB series!!

About the Author

I'm interested in the way literature can help us explore aspects of the human condition - particularly suffering, sex, love, faith, and redemption. My favourite stories are those in which a character takes a journey, either a physical journey to a new and exciting place, or a personal journey in which he or she learns something about himself/herself.

I'm also interested in how aesthetic elements such as art, architecture, and music can be used to tell a story or to illuminate the traits of a particular character. In my writing, I combine all of these elements with the themes of redemption, forgiveness, and the transformative power of goodness.

I try to use my platform as an author to raise awareness about the following charities: Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep Foundation, WorldVision, Alex's Lemonade Stand, and Covenant House. For more information, see my Twitter account.

Blog Tour: The Madam by M. Robinson + 5* review + teasers + giveaway

Some people need love…

I need sex, money, control, and power.

Anyone could have those four things, but only one could have VIP. Becoming Madam was never a choice for me, it was a mandated order from the most powerful woman I knew- my mother. I was born to fill her shoes, never to make mistakes, or to show weakness.

You are the product of your environment. They say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree; you learn from what you see, not from what you're told. Nature vs. Nurture. I learned from it all; what I saw, what I didn't see, what I was told, and from reading between the lines.

I was raised with the belief that the world spun ONLY because of me. I held power as far back as I can remember, saw things no one ever talks about, and witnessed illegal acts of sex, drugs, and money by the time I was eighteen.

You saw a glimpse of me in VIP, now see it from the beginning. Enter my world where anything goes; no judgments, no remorse, no guilt. You play by my rules, or you don’t play at all. There are no limits to what I can do, or to what I can show you…I will ensure my legacy my any means necessary.

My name is Lilith Veronica Stone, and I am The Madam.

Warning: Book contains adult situations.
Dark content/sex/drugs/language. Mature readers only.

 ** Available May 19th 2014! **

*Arc received in return for an honest review.

I want to start by saying I loved VIP and I couldn't wait to get stuck into The Madam.
When we met The Madam in VIP you just knew there had to be a reason why she was the way she was...a bitch. But a bitch with a heart (even if it was buried deep down) and boy do we find out in this sequel!! I'm still confused over my feelings of her though. Do I like her, loathe her or hate her? I don't know but one thing I do know, I can't get her out of my head.

Remember when we all watched Dallas each week, eagerly awaiting to see what stunt  J.R. Ewing would pull next to achieve his ultimate goal? He acted, usually, out of the love for his family and his family business. If some people got hurt along the way then who cares? We loved to see him do it but we also hated him for it. Well, that's kind of how I feel about The Madam, although hate is maybe too strong a word. I disliked some of her methods of achieving what she wanted but there was a part of me that felt for her, as this was the only way she knew how to be. Quite frankly she could be pretty ruthless, I certainly wouldn't want to cross her.

The Madam tells the life story of Lilith Veronica Stone who grew up surrounded by sex, money and drugs.
From the day she was born she was groomed to take over the mantel of 'Madam' from her mother but the way in which she was groomed was harsh and sometimes downright cruel. All a little girl wants, when she is hurting, is to be held in the comfort of her mother's arms and told everything will be okay. Lilith never got that. What she got was harsh words and a beating for her tears...tears meant weakness and her mother hated any sign of weakness.  Lilith grew up to have those same values, to become like her mother. Although she did have more nurturing qualities towards her VIPs than her mother ever did.

I did feel sorry for the young Lilith growing up. She adored her mother and wanted to emulate her in every way. She knew she wanted to be a VIP and, ultimately, The Madam and all it entailed...the wealth and, most importantly, the power. Lilith was brought up to believe love, above anything else, was a major sign of weakness but deep down that's all she really wanted the most. We get to see that in the friendship she develops over the years with Mika, the only person who really 'gets' her. I can't say too much without giving anything away but he is her one constant that she can't do without.

Lilith doesn't do herself any favours to ingratiate herself with the reader, she has the 'love me or hate me, I don't care' attitude and believe me there were quite a few times throughout her story that I shouted out loud in disbelief at some of the things she did. One of them being the lengths she was prepared to go to in order to get what she wanted, especially when it came to a certain VIP.

What I love about M. Robinson's style of writing is the way she doesn't pull any punches. She's not afraid to give the reader something to get their teeth into and make them think. I love the fact that the characters are so believable even if you don't like them. And the sex scenes, WOW, I nearly needed to sit in a cold bath they were so hot and steamy!

I can't really say much more without giving away the whole plot but if you've read and liked VIP then you REALLY need to read The Madam. However, if you're looking for a light and fluffy read then go find another author if not, fasten your seat belts, prepare yourself for one helluva ride and 1-click buy today.

All the way through The Madam I was rating it a 4.5 in my head but I bumped it up to 5 stars purely for the ending....genius. I now can't wait for the final book, MVP, as I need to know what The Madam does next!!

Heather LeighAbout The Author

Deciding to write books was something I had contemplated for a while. A co-worker of mine had gotten me started me on the 50 Shades Trilogy. I had quickly became absorbed! Reading contemporary romance had become apart of me.
Little did I know that my daughter was a product of the "50 Shades Baby Boom"! I remember going to my doctor's appointment to find out that we were off to labor and delivery and I didn't download any new books to my kindle! Talk about bummed out! However, I made up for that when I was home for my maternity leave. I believe we read 40+ books while I was home.
I am a full-time new mom, and wife. Yes, I do work full-time, I am currently doing multiple things, bouncing back after baby, weight watchers, exercising, training for a 5k, reading and writing. So far, I have really enjoyed writing as a hobby. My work book club, "HE" had consumed us (and by us, I mean 2). We were critics of the stories and characters. I then thought to myself, "hmm, I bet I could write stories just like this, and have them turn out like I'd want them to." Well, joking turned into thinking. Thinking turned into brainstorming. Brainstorming lead to opening a word document and letting my mind explore. Growing up I had written short stories with friends, and as extra credit for school. This is probably where it all started... I had turned in one of my short stories without re-reading, or editing it completely. I had my paper returned to me saying the "content was inappropriate." Apparently contemporary romance was frowned upon in English class! Oops! So maybe I was destined to become a writer. I thought to myself that I want to live in this world and make a difference and have a part of me in history after I leave. This is me staying forever young. Here I will post my journey, it's a learning experience for me, so please bear with me. If you have any questions, comments, concerns, recommendations I welcome them all. Enjoy :)

Synopsis

We crashed and burned like a falling plane. Hard and fast with an inevitable explosion. Another few weeks together changed my life the way the first did. At twenty-four, I became naïve again. I became a dreamer again. A believer. And walking away hurts just as much as it did seven years ago.   But over doesn’t have to mean over-at least in Aaron Stone’s mind. His pursuit is relentless, his determination unwavering. He’ll go to any lengths to keep me and prove that I belong to him. Unfortunately, love isn’t easy, and whether or not I forgive him is irrelevant to his past catching up with us. Once again, our relationship is haunted by a secret, one that could destroy everything, and the secret is born from the need to protect the other…   But the tables have turned, because the secret is mine.

Excerpt

I throw a few bills at the cab driver and slam the door behind me as I get out, my eyes tracing the silhouette of Aaron Stone sitting on my bench. “If this happens again, Mr. Stone, I may have to look into taking legal action. Two nights in a row? I hardly imagine you sitting outside my house is a coincidence.” He looks up, his eyes piercing in the evening darkness. “Back to work, Miss Black?” “I have a job. As much as I’d love to sit around and feel sorry for myself, I’m afraid I have far more important things to do.” I stroll past him and put my key in the door. He closes his hand around mine. “Things, or people?” “I fail to see what business it is of yours.” “It’s very much my business, as you’re well aware.” “Perhaps in your opinion. But if it will make you feel better, it’s things, not people.” I turn around. “I’m not back to work fully. Yet.” “Yet?” “I have to earn money somehow, and my big spenders aren’t pretty little rich boys who need a date for the night. So yes, yet.” “Never,” he growls, leaning into me. “You aren’t fucking another guy, Dayton.” “That’s not your decision, Aaron. You had your chance to decide that, and you blew it. Now if you’d like to remove yourself from my property, I’d appreciate it.” His lips touch mine in a scorching, forceful kiss that knocks me backward. I gasp at the sudden touch, and he slides his tongue between my lips. His hands cup my face, holding me against him, and my back is flush against the door. He tastes of the woody whiskey he adores, and he tastes of power and determination and finality. “Tell me one thing,” he says, his lips brushing across mine with his words. “Has anyone else kissed these lips?” His thumb comes between us and flicks my bottom lip. Who the fuck does he think he is, answering that question? I’m ready to push him away, to shove him on his ass, but instead what happens is a whisper of, “Fuck you.” “Answer the fucking question, Dayton.” My chest heaves at the thickness of his voice. I can hear the emotion beneath the demand. “No. They haven’t,” I answer. His lips crash against mine once more, rougher, harsher. I can feel nothing but his palms rough against my cheeks and his lips soft against my own. His tongue sweeping through my mouth and owning it completely. The ball of need building in my lower stomach and sending aches down through my pussy. He kisses me deeply, completely dominating my mouth, possessing me until I’m consumed by him and for a long moment, I forget why this shouldn’t be happening. Until he pulls back, his nose resting alongside mine, and I remember again. I take a deep breath, meeting his eyes as the reality of what just happens settles into a heavy ball in my chest. “You have five seconds to get your ass out of here before I go crazy at you.” He smirks, igniting a new kind of fury inside me. “Remember that next time you think what you do is none of my business.”
