Book Blitz: Something Worth Saving by Chelsea Landon + excerpt + playlist + giveaway + more

Title: Something Worth Saving
Author: Chelsea Landon
Release Date: Feb 3, 2014

It was one night, one fate and something tragic destroying something beautiful.
Heavy sheets of smoke curling and rolling together constricting my visions of this life I had.
You see that there?
That wrenching pain in your gut knowing not everything as it seems?
Look closer. That nervous energy you now have, stumbling over words you can’t say, a voice muffled under a mask, a moaning plea to be saved, slurred words on the tip of your tongue, there’s the something tragic.
When I have nothing left to give, nothing left to say, it’s him that brings me back to the moment, in the arms of my firefighter, the warmth of his heart and body, struggling to save his family.

This image of us right now, the one you have of two people frantically trying to get in the few moments of privacy they are allowed as parents, is one you’ll see in most bedrooms where children are raised and both parents work. Alone time is something that is never scheduled but stolen when the crazy little bundles of energy were asleep.
“Stop thinking,” he whispered, sensing my distraction. He came to rest against my chest as he entered me, both of us groaning as he filled me. “That’s it. No more...thinking.”
It was right then that I tried to stop and be there in the moment, but it was hard when our overly curious and insane black lab started scratching and barking at the bathroom door where Jace had barricaded him so we could have sex. If he wasn’t locked in another room, he stared at us the entire time. It was unnerving.
Gripping Jace’s shoulders, I looked over his right one at the door to the bathroom to make sure that asshole of a dog stayed put. Just when I thought maybe we might make it before he started in with the barking, he began to howl, and then bark.
Little bastard had the worst timing.
“Damn it,” I muttered, shaking my head and turning into Jace’s chest. The warmth of his body, the smell of his deodorant, consumed me, bringing me back to our moment. We were alone, one of the very few alone times we got, and my boy was moving above me.
          Perfection.
The thing was, Jace knew my body like no one else, which meant he knew when I was getting frustrated, too.
My legs fell from around his waist when Smokey’s howling reached an all-time high and he began his obsessive jumping as though he was going to come through the door at any minute...or destroy the bathroom. Both of which he’s done before. Many times.
“Don’t you dare stop, Aubrey. Don’t you fucking stop right now.” Jace’s breath caught in his throat as he continued to move in and out of me. His eyes fluttered closed as his hands held me in place. “We need this.”
“Don’t you think I know that?” I sighed, and my hands went from his shoulders to his chest, pushing back, only to have him rock against me. He wasn’t having it, though, and shifted his weight, pushing my arms against the mattress, his pace picking up, and goddamn if it didn’t feel so right, so complete.
It was the kind of sex that made you feel all warm and tingling. You know — the kind where even the slightest movement can make you come because it’s literally been so fucking long since you’ve had any stimulation down there. All that aside, I heard Gracie padding down the hallway. Thank goodness Jace had locked the bedroom door.
          “The kids are up.”
As much as I wanted him to continue, there were so many problems with this situation.
          “I don’t care.” And I was sure he didn’t.
As in most situations, when Jace Kenneth Ryan had something in his head — a mission like this — there was no stopping him.
It wasn’t like I wanted to stop him. It had been just as long for me since we last had sex. I wanted nothing more than to ride this shit out of him, but reality was weighing in on that decision.
That damn dog started in with his howling, waking up Jayden, and then we had both kids at the door, crying and wondering why their parents weren’t around.
Who was next, Child Protective Services?
          Don’t even think that, Aubrey!
“Come on baby...stay in the moment,” Jace grunted, moving the hand that was at the side down my body, over my ribs and lower until it was at my knee. Gripping my leg tightly, he angled my legs farther apart, his hips moving at a steady pace.
He was determined to finish. “You like that, don’t you?” he asked when he saw my eyes close, the sensations overwhelming me. “You feel so good.”
I did like that. In fact, I loved it.
Just as I was beginning to relax and finally be in the moment, I heard the sounds I hated in times like this.
“Mommy!” our daughter Gracie yelled, pounding her tiny fists against the door. “Open the door!”
Jace didn’t stop — no, instead he sped up his movements as a growl emerged from deep in his throat.
That was until the dog burst through the wooden door of the bathroom and into our room, and began to hump the bedpost, and the kids continued to beat against the door. It wasn’t looking like we were going to be able to finish. At least, it didn’t seem right to me.
“I want to play Candy Crush!” Gracie shouted again.
“Use my phone. It’s on the table,” Jace yelled back, his mouth only parting from mine for a moment before he went back to work.
At that point, I just laid there. My concentration and desire seemed lost – if not from the kids screaming and yelling – but from the dog humping the bedpost by my head.
          Who can relax like this?
Most mothers have been here before, and I know you have. Don’t lie. It doesn’t make you any less of a mother to wish for some alone time for yourself.
Yes, we love our children, but when they start impinging on our sex life, it becomes a problem.
That’s a shitty thing for me to say, isn’t it?
It was quiet for about a half a second when Gracie, still outside our door, asked, “What’s that noise?”
Jace stopped for about a half a second and then continued despite the squeaking bed springs. “Nothing. Go play your game.” By the irritation in his voice and his tightened grip, I knew how this was going to end.
          “Jace...maybe—”
His hands twisted gently in my hair, pulling me into every strong-minded thrust. “Hold on honey...please...” he whispered. “I’m so close.”
If only I was that close.
Like I said, I knew how this was going to end. It was going to end with the kids screaming and Jace getting frustrated and storming off. Same shit every day. I could already feel the mood changing.
“I can’t, Daddy!” she pouted. I could almost hear her bottom lip coming out. “I’m stuck on this level.”
Somehow the phone ended up under the locked door with both Jayden and Gracie screaming and both beating against the door.
And there was the moment it changed. He got frustrated.
“Fuck...” Jace sighed, rolling to the side, and I knew the moment was gone. With his arms resting over his stomach, he moved them to his face as he breathed heavily. Scrubbing his hands over his tired eyes, he kicked at the dog, pushing him away from the bedpost. “Knock it off, Smoke.”
I laughed. It was all I could do. This had happened to us so often that now it was hard not to be frustrated.
Jace got up after that. Barely lifting my head from the pillow, I watched his naked ass.
          Such a shame.
          Perfect. Muscular. Amazing.
When he reached the bathroom door he looked back at me, his hand on the knob, and then sighed. Turning away, he slammed the bathroom door shut behind him as he mumbled something about it being four weeks soon. The door, being broken, sprung open again so he used the laundry hamper to keep it closed.

We used to be one person, one heart and one soul fighting fire together. Now we’re struggling to find our own way, our safety line cut, lost in clouds of smoke with no visibility.
We’re trapped.

“I’m serious, Jace. Go! I’ll be right behind you.”

“Stay with me, honey.” His voice was muffled by his mask, a harsh gravelly sound, followed by the hiss of each breath he took. “Please. Please just stay with me.”

“Breathe, baby...please, just breathe...” Removing his breathing mask, he placed it against my face, urging me to take a breath. I didn’t want to. I didn’t feel I should be able to. “Breathe for me! Please just fucking breathe...” His voice faded.

Just Enough - Releasing Aug 2014
I want out of this town.
I want to leave and never look back.
He doesn’t knock when he comes in, he never needs to. He knows, as well as I do, my door is always open, waiting.
I crave him. I do. He knows this, I think, I know, and I believe he craves me too. Why else would he come back?
It’s his determination and his will that gets me. That determination keeps me waiting for him in a dreary bay. I’ve always heard my friends say they wanted the rich guy to take them out of this small town that seems to hold us all captive.
Lincoln wasn’t that guy. At first look, he’s a fisherman, married to the sea and weighted by her waves.
Who is he to me?
He’s someone who gives just enough.
He shows me a different way of thinking. A way to give more than just enough.

Charlotte McKendrick is your typical thirty-something stay-at-home mom. She has three beautiful children, a loving family, special friends, and the most wonderful, adoring husband. Her life is a dream. Er . . . let’s try this again. Charlotte McKendrick is not your typical thirty-something stay-at-home mom. Yes, she’s got three beautiful children, a loving family (all of them lingerers—you’ll see), and her friends are special, all right! As far as her wonderful, adoring husband, what a joke! That bastard abandoned her and the kids six months ago. Now, she will do anything she can to survive and provide for her children. Even if it means signing on the dotted line . . . Mitch Colton is the CEO of Colton Technologies. Most of his year is spent traveling around the world, bringing companies the latest innovations in automobile technology. He doesn’t have time for a traditional relationship and the BS that comes with it. He doesn’t do the “marriage” thing, the “kid” thing, and he certainly doesn’t do the “falling in love” thing. All that said, he still wants someone to come home to. Someone who will offer everything he wants, and nothing he doesn’t. He realizes loyalty paired with these kinds of demands won’t come cheap. No problem. What he doesn’t realize is that once Charlotte McKendrick signs that dotted line, he’ll be paying with a lot more than money.

I am a domestic engineer (born and raised in NJ) whose sole responsibility is to guide three young, impressionable kids into becoming phenomenal adults. This challenging yet rewarding work requires a lot of love (coffee), patience (wine), and determination (periodic exorcisms). I work this magic from the beautiful state of New Hampshire.
Before becoming a domestic goddess (not really), I spent over a decade in the medical field, where I wore more hats than the Queen.
I have loved the written word and the great escape it provides since I was a little girl. When I wasn't reading about people and the places they lived, I was creating my own characters and adventures.
Finding myself again through my writing in The Lost & Found Series, The One, and The GEG Series has been nothing short of a dream come true. Also, it makes people feel better when I laugh randomly or talk to myself, knowing it's my characters and not "the voices" . . . that would be creepy.

Excerpt

She pushed open her door and almost dropped her coffee. Xander was seated in her chair, leaning forward, his elbows on her desk and his chin resting on the tip of his steepled fingers. Isla stood, frozen in the doorway. Neither moved. Stalemate.
Eventually, Xander’s eyes swept from her head to her toes, lingering on her most curvy assets and making her feel naked once again. She gritted her teeth, determined not to show an outward response which she assumed was what he was attempting to provoke. If he hadn’t been sitting forward in her chair, she might well have brazenly returned the gesture, but her view was restricted. Frustrated, she inwardly railed at the audacity of the man, looking at her like that, choosing to ignore the fact that a tiny part of her enjoyed seeing the way his eyes drank in her voluptuous figure. She didn’t know how to respond so she simply stood there as if he was having no effect on her whatsoever.
When his eyes began to travel back up her body, she prepared herself for them reaching hers so she could show no reaction. However, when their eyes did meet, she felt the full force of his hunger. That’s exactly what it was. He wants me! He wants to rip my clothes off and take me anyway he can. No! He’d want to take me his way, and I’d bet my life that it would be fast, hard and totally euphoric. Her pussy clenched involuntarily at the thought of him – deep inside her. She felt heat spread from between her thighs and her nipples swell. She saw recognition in his eyes. Oh yeah, he knows what he’s doing all right.
‘I know what you’re thinking, Red,’ he declared. ‘Oh, I know you’d die before you’d admit it but I know exactly what you’re thinking.’ His voice was rich and deep, cocky yet seductive, having lost its usual hard edge.
She tried to laugh it off but she felt her cheeks flush. ‘Oh really. Do tell. What is it that you think I’m thinking, exactly?’
He raised his eyebrows slightly and nodded slowly. ‘Oh you’re good. Very good. I give you full marks for effort but you don’t fool me. I can read you like a book.’
‘Prove it,’ she challenged, walking over to her desk and leaning across it so that she was inches from his face. She looked him straight in the eye. ‘Tell me what I’m thinking right now.’
She could have hugged herself when she saw surprise register on his smug face, but he quickly recovered.
‘Think that one through, Red,’ he murmured. ‘If I did, what would happen next?’
She smiled. ‘I’m so confident that you’re way off the mark with whatever it is you believe I’m thinking, that I think you’d storm back into your office as I laughed and mocked you. And then you’d sulk and probably try to make my life hell until you felt better.’
She saw the muscles in his jaw twitch before he leaned forward, almost closing the gap between them and cloaking them with his unique intensity. She wanted to swallow but her mouth was dry. She wanted to back off but she couldn’t let him win. She’d upped the ante first; he was only raising his game to meet hers.
‘So I’m useless at knowing what you’re thinking but you’re confident you can predict my next move? Interesting . . .’ His voice was barely a whisper yet he still sounded cocky.
‘That’s right,’ she murmured, focusing more on those ravenous eyes than his words. His pupils were almost fully dilated and they seemed to be drawing her in. Oh my God, they are drawing me in . . . or is he getting closer?
His lips pressed against hers and, almost before she could register what was happening, his hands wove into her hair and she felt her lips open at the insistence of his tongue. Shock and indignation raged through her and she tried to pull away, but his hands held her fast as his mouth tortured hers. She thrust her hands against his chest in order to push him away but at that moment, his kiss became soft, tender even, and he gave a low moan. Something in that sound called to her and she felt herself weakening . . . then responding to his slow, almost reverent kiss.
Her libido woke from its slumber like a phoenix rising from cold, undisturbed ashes and she suddenly wanted it. Badly. She took the initiative, her hand slipping around the back of his neck as she deepened the kiss, devouring his mouth with her tongue. Fuck! This man can kiss! It felt like he was making love to her mouth with his tongue and it was intoxicating. She didn’t know what would happen next, she just knew she didn’t want that kiss to end.
The shrill sound of the telephone rang out, making her start. She sprang back and they faced each other, both visibly shocked by what had just happened. She reached for the phone but it stopped as she placed her hand on it.
Xander stood and walked back to his office, pausing at the door to throw casually over his shoulder, ‘Well, Red, I doubt you predicted that.’

About the Author

J.D. Chase was born in central UK and has never moved very far away – she has a very close-knit family who she’d miss too much if she ventured too far away for too long. She has honours degrees in financial economics and education but now is a full-time sorcerer of shamelessly sexy smut. She’s always loved telling stories, either in verbal or written form since she was a child. She loves reading just as much as she loves writing because relishes the sheer escapism of losing herself in a book. A good steamy romance always does the trick … but shoe shopping comes a close second! She has a penchant for sexy alpha males and abhors wimpy female leads – this may be because she’s a feisty lady herself.
For many years, she has had more than a passing interest in BDSM (nod, nod … wink, wink) but found that she was often frustrated by the lack of books that were both well written and ‘true’ to the lifestyle and not totally stereotypical. So one day, she put pen to paper (well, fingers to keyboard) to write her own and the Orion the Hunter series was born. Little did she know that, at that moment, she was sowing the seeds of change. For, just a few months later, as a somewhat bewildered Amazon Kindle bestselling Indie author, she quit her career as an education professional to write full time. All of her releases (so far) have been kindle bestsellers - something that still astounds her.
The Player (Rouge Passion #1) releases just in time for her appearance at the fabulous Romance Author and Reader Event in Edinburgh ... she will probably do some fangirling over the other authors, as well as signing her own books. She’s also signing at the British Book Affair in London in April 2015.
J.D. loves to chat about books - hers and other authors' so look her up on social media and say hi.

He grabs me and leads me on stage. We pass a few people, but nobody stops us. He must be using his magic to keep us hidden. He takes me center stage and turns me to face the crowd. He pulls me up against his chest.  “Let’s put on a show for them.”
“Oh, I like where this is going. Nobody will see us, right?”
“Not unless you want them to.” He slips his hand down the front of my pants and brushes my sensitive parts. I moan. “Shh, baby. My magic only keeps us unseen, not unheard.”
He pulls his hand out and I hear him suck his finger. Great. How am I supposed to keep quiet? Well, two can play this game. I turn and drop to my knees, quickly unbuttoning his jeans. I pull them down to his ankles. Commando seems to be the way he goes. I grab his stiff length in my hand and bring it to my mouth. I lick the head and he gasps. Now who has to keep quiet? I slowly take him as far as I can. He is so big that I can’t take all of him so I place my hand around the part of his shaft where my mouth can’t reach. I begin to suck and pump with my hand at the same time, twirling my tongue around as I go up and down. He twists his hand in my hair and sets the pace. I use my other hand to play with his balls. It doesn’t take long for his muscles to tighten. His hand twists tighter in my hair so I speed up, knowing it won’t be long. He explodes in my mouth and I swallow all he has to give. I grin up at him and see that he has a smirk on his face and his eyes are twinkling.

He pushes me toward one of the speaker boxes at the front of the stage and tells me to place my hands on it. I do as I’m told. He slips my pants off and bends down, licking and nibbling on my nub. I have to bite down on my lip so I don’t scream out. He vigorously sucks and licks until I can’t take it anymore. I orgasm and almost collapse. He stands up and holds me around the waist from behind. Then he places his hands on my hips and rams into me. Still sensitive from the orgasm, I moan. The crew working on cleaning up looks around, but they can’t see us. Shit… I have got to be quiet. He fucks me hard and fast. It only takes a few minutes for us both to climax.

*ARC given in return for an honest review

I love a good paranormal romance story and this was no exception. I was hooked from the first page to the the very last. Missing Pieces may be a quick read but it's a thrilling page turner of excitement, danger, tension and HOTNESS. (NEEKO!!) The fast-paced action, especially towards the end of the book, had me on the edge of my seat - just when I thought I had things figured out, BAM!, something came along to make me shout out in disbelief and question why I hadn't seen it coming.

Gabby has had a raw deal of late which has threatened her very strength. She is finding it hard to trust anyone after suffering from abuse at the hands of her, seemingly, loving fiancee. (He would've killed her if she hadn't managed to escape him.)

After hiding herself away in her apartment for 6 weeks she is going stir-crazy and, deciding she needs to get out, goes to a bar on her own. It's while she's ducking out the back door to avoid the company of a guy she was dancing with that encounters Neeko. One minute she's in an alley way, the next she's transported, quite literally, to an unknown place by a complete stranger.

Neeko, unknown to Gabby, has been searching for her since just before her attack. He took one look at her and knew there was something special about her.She invades his thoughts, he can't stop thinking about her. When Neeko sees her he acts impulsively and whisks her away to his secluded house. Neeko is an Immortal and realises that Gabby could be his soul mate, his Other Half. His plan is to keep Gabby there until he can prove to her that they are destined to be together.

But Neeko's plan has flaws. Gabby doesn't trust anyone since her ordeal with her ex-fiancee even though she can feel the growing connection and physical attraction between them. Neeko is battling his feelings. He knows that there is a great possibility that Gabby is destined to sit by his side as his Queen but she is a human. The Immortals do not like humans, even though they are there to protect them. There is only one thing Neeko hates more...Demons. He has sworn vengeance on all demons after they killed his parents when he was five years old.

As the days go by Gabby can't deny the immense feelings she has developed for Neeko. They grow closer each day but, with the approach of her 25th birthday, comes danger and unseen forces which threaten to destroy their love and trust for each other. Can they overcome them or will they fall victim to those evil plans?

Neeko is definitely one sexy hunk of an Immortal that I wouldn't mind being cast away with. Boy, is he hot? But for being a Ruler he could be quite ignorant in his treatment of Gabby. Instead of sitting her down and explaining things to her and soothing her fears of being hurt again he would just issue out a demand then do a disappearing act on her which would make Gabby, understandably angry.

Gabby is quite a strong character (she doesn't pull any punches with her words or fists) but she can be a bit exasperating. I found myself shouting at her when she would do something that would place her, and others, directly in the path of danger.

Missing Pieces is the first book in, what promises to be, an exciting and hot paranormal series! I really enjoyed it and loved the way the author, Tiffany Flowers, had me double guessing what would happen next. I don't think I can wait until next year for the sequel!!

Cora Milan came to Miami to get a fresh start, away from the memories and stigma that followed her and her brother at home. When she’s mugged, Raphael Ortiz rescues her. He’s sexy, successful, and dangerous—Miami’s most eligible bachelor and it’s most elusive. A cartel lord who lives on the wrong side of the law, with only a veneer of respectability. He is the exact opposite of a clean slate, and he makes no apologies for wanting her.
When Raphael forces his way into her life, Cora knows she should run. But the attraction between them is undeniable, and Raphael is a man accustomed to getting what he wants. The more she loses herself in him, the deeper she is drawn into Raphael’s criminal world.
But when her past, and his present collide, both of them will be left grasping for the only thing that can save them from the darkness around them—each other.

I jerk around, and freeze, startled to be facing Raphael again. I mutter something, and shift past him—god, he smells divine—as I beeline for the door.
How on earth did he find it? And for that matter—how did he find me? Being hard to find keeps me safe, and the fact that Raphael so easily tracked me down—I want to bolt. Grab Paul and what we absolutely couldn’t leave behind, and vanish, into the next big city, or the middle of nowhere.
“Wait,”  he calls, and I should keep moving, I should run—but I stop. I wait. I twist to stare at him as he approaches, slowly, as if approaching a wild, skittish animal.
“How did you find me?” I demand, my voice harsh. Raphael shoves his hands in his pockets and shrugs. It disturbs the collar of his button down shirt, and I see the hint of tattoos under his collar.
“You were still carrying paperwork from here. I assumed you would come back. That if I were patient, you would come back.”
I stare at him, disbelieving. “You’re a CEO.” I say, flatly.
A tiny smile tugs at his full lips, and he shrugs. “That is less impressive than you would think.”
I look around again. A temp agency felt like a good idea, when we first got here. It wasn’t the best I could do, but it was relatively easy and anonymous. And that mattered. Now, I’m wondering if I wasn’t an idiot. If my attempts at hiding was just as paltry as I thought they were.
“You look tired,” he says, and I’m startled to realize his voice is softer, and closer. I look up and Raphael is only a step or two away. Close enough that I can smell his cologne again, a spicy scent that makes me want to bury my nose in the crook of his neck.
“I am,” I say, too tired and worried to dissemble. “I need this job to work out, and it’s not.”
He hesitates, and then, “Would you have coffee with me?”
I laugh, because there’s no way he’s asking me that. I am no one, less than no one, and Raphael Ortiez—I shake my head.
“Why is that funny?” he asks, curiously.
“Because men like you don’t want girls like me,” I says, grinning. I start walking again, only a little surprised when he falls in at my side.
“What do you know about men like me, Cora?” he says, and I shudder. The way he says my name should be illegal.
“Nothing,” I say, reaching for the door of my truck. “And nothing is the safest thing for me to know.”
He steps close again, and my heart flips. I know nothing about him except this: I want to know everything. And that? That is dangerous.

Synopsis

How did I start the Lafayette Club?
Well, I’m in the business of saving tarnished souls. I hand pick girls from the street who have no options left in life and give them an opportunity they can’t possibly refuse. They come to work in the Lafayette Club which is full of EXQUISITE DEBAUCHERY, where influential men come to conduct business and lap dances are considered a fine art. The girls are trained, they are morphed, they are educated, they follow the rules of the club and they know to submit to me. They live by my motto, no relationships, no love, just sex. They are never touched, only by me, they are never completely naked, only with me, and their personas are entirely anonymous. The only person who knows who they truly are, is me, Jett Colby. If these girls were ever seen on the streets of New Orleans, you would never know they were a Jett Girl.

“Work Bitch”
Goldie
“Where the fuck are my titty tassels?” Lyla announced, as she dug through her locker.
She was always losing her tassels. To be honest, I didn’t know why she used them to begin with; they were more eighties porn than New Orleans strip club, but she swore they drove the men crazy. I wouldn’t know, since I was always stuck on drink duty, but that wasn’t my choice.
“Seriously, Goldie, have you seen my tassels? I’m on in five,” Lyla pleaded.
“I haven’t. Maybe you should try something other than mini curtains hanging off your tits, huh?
Maybe wear...oh, what do they call it...a bra?”
“Where’s the fun in that?” Lyla asked, as she shimmied her naked tits in my face and I tried to smack her jugs away.
There was a reason why Lyla, my roommate, was center stage at Kitten’s Castle every night. She was drop-dead gorgeous. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t get a little lady wood every time she was up on stage. She was one of those mixed breeds who lucked out by having parents with perfect genes. Her skin was a deep brown color, her eyes were light green, and her hair was pitch black. Exotic could be a word to describe her, but I would also say fuck-me-in-the-ass beautiful. Yeah, that pretty much described her.
Lyla gave up on the search for her tassels and threw on a white cropped T-shirt over her naked breasts.
“I’ll just do my wet T-shirt routine tonight. There’s a bachelor party out there that has a lot of money to spend,” she said, while wiggling her eyebrows.
“When is there not a bachelor party out there?” I responded. “It’s New Orleans for fuck’s sake and we work at one of the most premier spots for men to get away with murder when they’re away from their own personal finger huts. You know, since the lighting is pretty much non-existent in here.”
Lyla crinkled her nose at my statement. “Hey, I like the fact that the lights aren’t very bright in here. I’d rather not have a spotlight shining up my Britney while I’m dancing on stage.”
“Easy for you to say; you’re not the one delivering drinks in the dark. I swear, Marv is trying to kill me out there.” I slammed my hand on the vanity and said, “And when the hell am I going to get my chance on stage?”
“Down girl. You get paid well.”
“Yeah, but I get groped every time a pass a hairy and horny man and, as we know, that’s pretty much every guy in this dump.”
“You got to work it, bitch, if you want to get the hell out of here, so stop complaining and put your garter belt on. We have some willing customers out there with some fat wallets.”
I huffed and waved Lyla off as she raced out to the stage to get ready for her act.
I looked into the mirror and studied the reflection that looked back at me. Ugh, I hated that my life had become an uphill climb of trying to pay off bills and debt that were, unfortunately, not even mine, but that of my dead parents. Every day, I have to practically sell my soul to skeezy men just to make sure I don’t go hungry and I can pay off the stack of bills that are piling up on my counter.
I’ve spent the last nine years of my life trying to climb back from the hole that Hurricane Katrina put in it and it hasn’t been easy, especially since I have no degree and no job experience
That’s why I’m currently sitting in front of a rusty old vanity with piss poor lighting, outlining my azure colored eyes with cheap-as-fuck eyeliner and praying that only one man tries to stick his thumb in my ass tonight. It was a common occurrence amongst the pervs.

About the Author

meghan quinn When I was in high school I occasionally read books but was consumed by other teenage things so I didn’t take the time to appreciate a good book on a cloudy day, wrapped up in a blanket on the couch, besides “The Notebook” I made time to read the heartbreaking novel.
It wasn’t until I received a Kindle for Christmas one year that my world completely flipped upside down. When looking for books, I came across the Contemporary Romance genre and was sold and I haven’t turned back since.
You can either find my head buried in my Kindle, listening to inspiring heart ripping music or typing away on the computer twisting and turning the lives of my characters while driving my readers crazy with anticipation. I am currently residing in beautiful Colorado Springs where the sun is always shining and there is a trail waiting to be hiked on every corner. I share a lovely and warm home with the love of my life and my five, four-legged children.
