As unexpected circumstances push them closer together, heads butt, patience is tested, and flames ignite as they dance around their mutual attraction, both of them jaded from broken pasts. Following after her, I find her bent over in front of the refrigerator holding the door open and staring at the contents inside. The way her ass is sticking out unleashes something inside me, and I go semi-hard just from watching her. I instantly feel the need to show her that I’m not some weak, damaged man. I walk up behind her and grab her by the waist, turning her around. Kicking the door shut behind me, I push her to the island, and if I thought I could get away with it, I’d be pressing myself up against so she could feel what she’s doing to me. She’s staring up at me with confusion in her big, brown eyes, and I wonder what the hell I’m doing.
“Hop up,” I tell her, and she complies immediately, surprising me by not fighting it.
I place my hands on her knees, spreading them and stepping closer to her so my hips are between her legs. As best as I can, I take a hold each one and wrap them around my waist, and she involuntarily tightens them around my middle, although her ass is still firmly planted on the counter. This isn’t how I imagined her legs wrapped around me for the first time, but I can’t deny that I don’t love the feel of her gripping my waist tightly.
“Arms around my neck, Charlie.” The confused expression on her face deepens, but she does as she’s told.
“What are you doing, Knox?” she asks, looking up at me, her face only inches from mine.
Swallowing hard, I ignore her question and bring my forehead to hers. “Just do this for me, okay? Don’t fight me on it. Just this once. I need to do this.”
She nods, and I’m not sure she knows what to expect, confirming it when I pull her off the counter. Gasping, she starts to struggle, and I have to brace myself against the counter to keep from falling. Jesus, this woman is so damn defiant, and it can be both sexy as hell and annoyingly irritating.
“Knox, what the hell?! Put me down!”
Fuck, I know I should probably listen to her, but I’ve gotten to this point and I’m not stopping until I can prove to myself that I haven’t completely lost all of my strength. She’s not exactly heavy, but her struggling is making it difficult to keep my one good arm around her as I make my way down the hallway, heading into the guest bedroom. Somewhere along the way she stops struggling, apparently having given up and figuring that it’s just easier to let me do this.
I’m slightly out of breath by the time I get to her bed, and I’m more than happy to release her from my arms. Relief washes over me when she plops on the bed, bouncing once. Whether the relief is from having been able to do it or from having freed myself of her weight. Either way, I’m fucking ecstatic, and even though I’m breathing heavy, it was a small victory for me and my bruised ego.
I begin backing away from her because I know the verbal assault is coming, and I don’t blame her, but I don’t regret it.

About Tessa
I'm a twenty six year old book junkie who is also obsessed with sports. Bengals, Buckeyes, Reds are my teams! I work for the government during the day, hang out with Air National Guard on the weekends, and am married to a guy 15 inches taller than me. We're quite the pair! We currently live right outside of Dayton, OH with our two cats. I've been reading since I was a kid. My mom was a librarian, so it was a given. Heck, she even made sure we watched Wishbone instead of the Smurfs. In 2011 when I graduated from college, my mom bought me a Nook, and then in the summer of 2012 I found this amazing site called Goodreads. I was introduced to so many amazing indie/self-published authors. After reading almost 400 books that year, my husband gave me the push to finally sit down and write my own. It was a rocky start, but over time the words started flowing and I couldn't get Jace and Lexi out of my head. If I’m not writing or looking through tons of photos of hot men, all in the name of research, then you can probably find me curled up with my Kindle, ignoring the rest of the world. I love my sports almost as much as I love my books. My other obsessions include red wine, hot men, country music, and all things Grace Potter. I LOVE to hear from readers, so please feel free to contact via any social media site listed below.

Excerpt

My body is screaming for him, but it’s so much more than that. My heart wants him, too. Somewhere between Christmas and our weekends together, I’ve fallen in complete and absolute love with Ryland Thomas Sinclair. How do I know this? That’s easy; it’s right in front of me. His touch sends me to the moon. The sight of him brings me unimaginable joy. When I hear his voice, my body hums. Everything in me responds when I inhale his scent. The taste of him when we kiss is beyond anything I’ve ever known. Most of all, he’s seeped into my heart, wedging himself within it, and I don’t ever want him to leave. If he does, there will be a space so huge that I’ll never be whole, never be myself again; I know that Fallon will cease to exist.
I stop breathing when this thought takes over my mind and he senses the change in me.
“Everything okay there, dangerous girl?”
“Ryland Thomas.” My voice is husky and filled with all sorts of emotion.
He stands and cups my face. “What is it, love?” Concern has claimed his voice.
“II’m in love with you.” I swallow, not knowing what his reaction will be. I don’t have to wait long at all because he almost immediately rewards me with the most dazzling smile.
“Damn time you figured it out. I’ve been in love with you pretty much since the beginning. Ever since I realized I’d been such a damn wanker. I love you, Fallon McKinley. I’ve loved you from a distance and now I can finally love you properly, like I was meant to love you from the start.”
I’m suddenly encased in his warmth as his mouth is on mine. Our clothes are torn away by frantic hands while we rush at each other with desperation, as though we’ve been seeking this for centuries, even though I know that’s such a silly thought. He picks me up and he’s carrying me inside now.
“No hot tub?”

“Not on your life. I’m going to make love to you, in every way imaginable, starting in my bed. I want to see your face, love, as I slide into you. And I don’t want the dark sky to hide any of you. You’re all mine tonight, and I intend to watch every bit of you.”

About the Author

One day, on her way home from work as a sales manager, A. M. Hargrove, realized her life was on fast forward and if she didn't do something soon, it would quickly be too late to write that work of fiction she had been dreaming of her whole life.  So, she rolled down the passenger window of her fabulous (not) company car and tossed out her leather briefcase.  Luckily, the pedestrian in the direct line of fire was a dodge ball pro and had über quick reflexes enabling him to avoid getting bashed in the head.  Feeling a tad guilty about the near miss, A. M. made a speedy turn down a deserted side street before tossing her crummy, outdated piece-of-you-know-what laptop out the window.  She breathed a liberating sigh of relief, picked up her cell phone, called her boss and quit her job.  Grinning, she made another call to her hubs and told him of her new adventure (after making sure his heart was beating properly again).

So began A. M. Hargrove's career as a YA/NA and Adult Romance writer. Her books include the following: Edge of Disaster, Shattered Edge and Kissing Fire (The Edge Series); The Guardians of Vesturon series (Survival, Resurrection, Determinant, reEmergent and Beginnings); Dark Waltz and Tragically Flawed.

Other than being in love with writing about being in love, she loves chocolate, ice cream and coffee and is positive they should be added as part of the USDA food groups.

Aerie Daniels

There’s something deliciously perverse about staring through the clear glass. All of my senses engage as I wait in line—the fragrance that fills the air as the fire crackles beneath the foil wrapped treats wafts under my nose, the beauty in each and every small package as they line the shelves with tiny dots and colored sprinkles mesmerizes me, the sound made as the silver sheet is peeled back to reveal the magnificence it holds captivates me, and the anticipation of the taste makes my mouth water. Ummm… just thinking of the first bite into the moist brown exterior with its bittersweet Belgian chocolate complimenting the flavor of the Madagascar bourbon vanilla that oozes from its inside has me trembling. The black and white cupcake—it’s simply perfection. Amidst the skyscrapers in Los Angeles’ South Park neighborhood, Sprinkles is a gem tucked away for those of us who seek out a small piece of heaven. I don’t come here often, but when I do it’s for that one special treat. The menu describes it as, “Yin and Yang.” An ancient proverb that says, “Complementary opposites, such as light and dark, day and night, and masculine and feminine, seemingly may exist as contrary forces, but are actually interconnected.” Simply put, it says one gives rise to the other and it’s true— opposites attract. Without the vanilla inside, one could not possibly crave the chocolate outside—looking at the two parts united has me drooling. “You know what they say about staring through the glass,” a deep husky voice says from behind me. His words tingle my skin and my gaze snaps up. “Excuse me?” I stop short, in a daze, not even sure what he just said I was so lost in my thoughts. He chuckles. “You know what they say about staring through the glass,” he repeats. My eyes blink and come into focus on the upward tilt of his full lips. Then my eyes move to his smooth pale skin flecked with a light stubble, his nose seemingly sculpted even with a slight imperfection in its slope, large eyes with the most unusual gray color swirling from within, and chocolate brown colored hair framing his face in pieces—I’m not sure if he has just rolled out of bed or if product molds it just so. Either way, he is utterly beautiful. “I’m sorry, I don’t know what you’re talking about.” “Just be careful so you don’t fall in like Alice.” He smiles, displaying his bright white teeth. “Again, I’m sorry but I have no idea what you’re talking about.” I notice his eyes sweep over me and my heart starts pounding. “Through the Looking Glass,” he responds in a dangerously husky voice. This time when he speaks I catch an accent, ever so slight but extremely sexy. It reminds me of how Robert De Nero talks, just not as loud or fast. I continue to stare, unable to respond. I notice that his physique is long and lean. He’s dressed in worn jeans that fit him perfectly. His orange laced hiking boots scream I don’t conform. A pair of tortoiseshell sunglasses hang from the V of his gray sweater, which clings to his body perfectly. And an outdoor vest tops the outfit. It throws me off. It makes him look more like an Abercrombie model than a James Dean type. It’s a navy blue down and quilted one with a silver zipper. I don’t know why, but something about his outfit, about this man, captivates me. “Number 98,” calls the girl from behind the counter. He steps closer. His warm breath whispers across my neck. “Through the Looking Glass is the sequel to Alice in Wonderland. When Alice gets too close to the glass, she falls in and starts on a crazy journey,” he tells me as his arm waves in the air with a green ticket on display. Stepping closer, his gaze cuts from mine to the glass case as he hands his number to the clerk whose wearing a cute brown apron with the word Sprinkles scripted across it. “Can I have a dozen of the black and white cupcakes?” he asks. Suddenly alarmed, my eyes dart to the case as I watch the single remaining row of beautifully crafted cupcakes diminish until there are none left. My irritation flares as I glance at my number—97. The beautiful stranger hands the clerk his credit card and waits to sign the slip. “I was number 97, my number was before yours,” I say as he’s handed the bag that holds his treasure. “Oh, I’m sorry. Here let me get the sales clerk’s attention so you don’t have to take another number,” he says. I want to stomp my feet. I want to scream. I don’t want her attention. I don’t want another number. I want the cupcakes that he stole from me. “Miss,” he calls draping his perfectly fit body over the case. She looks his way and with a charming grin he says, “Can you help this lovely lady? She missed her number being called.” “Of course, I’m so sorry. How can I help you?” the girl asks averting her eyes from the man who looks like he should be on the cover of GQ magazine, over to me. He smiles at me with a face that belongs on a billboard. “Don’t fall in.” I swear he’s goading me. But then he tips his chin and a sexy, smoldering grin passes over his lips and I’m not so sure anymore. He turns to look at me one more time before he exits, and excitement flushes over my face. I nod a slight cursory acknowledgement, then he disappears and disappointment washes over me—he’s gone. Crap. The cupcakes are also gone. Double crap. And now I’m left wondering if he saw me staring at that flavor? Did he distract me on purpose so he could purchase them first? Urrr…I’m so angry right now I consider walking out, but when the clerk asks me what I’d like I settle for the Vanilla Milk Chocolate cakes—they are the mirror reflection of the black and whites, with vanilla cake and chocolate frosting, but they are not nearly as good.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

I live in Florida with my husband and four kids. I've always had a love for reading books and writing. Being an English major in college, I wanted to teach at the college level but that was not to be. I went on to receive an MBA and became a project manager until quitting to raise my family. One of my favorite family outings use to be taking my kids to the bookstore or the library. Today, my oldest child is in college and my twins are juniors so they no longer go with me on these outings. And although I don't need to go to the actual store anymore because I have the greatest device ever invented—a Kindle, I still do. There's nothing like a paperback. So now my four year old and I make dates out of going to the bookstore--it's time I love and cherish.

I like to believe in soulmates, kindred spirits, true friends, and Happily-Ever-Afters. I love to drink champagne, listen to music, and hopes to always stay young at heart.

Return to Poughkeepsie Blog Tour with 5* review, guest post, trailer & more

Title: Return To Poughkeepsie #2
Author: Debra Anastasia
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: December 30, 2013

Synopsis

Beckett Taylor is a murderer. His calling, his craft are destruction and intimidation—whether he wants it that way now or not. He left Poughkeepsie to keep his brothers safe, to keep Eve safe. Set up with happy lives to live, they’re better off without him, right?

But all his willpower crumbles when he hears his brother Blake’s frantic voice on the phone. An unknown enemy has moved in on his old territory, and Livia’s been taken. In an instant, Beckett knows it will take an attack only he and Eve can execute to bring her back. All his self-imposed embargoes are torn to shreds, perhaps along with the new man he’s struggled to become.

“Brother, call Eve. I’ll be there soon.”

In this emotional and action-packed sequel to Poughkeepsie, Debra Anastasia conjures a tale of love at its most raw and ragged. With Beckett and Eve, how could we expect anything less? But even when it’s messy, not magical, true love perseveres. Real love finds a way—for better or for worse until death does part.

Simone's Review
**ARC provided in exchange for an honest review**

Now I can tell you I have been wanting to return to Poughkeepsie ever since I read the first book and fell in love with these three hot messed-up brothers. To be honest, I fell for Blake hard in Poughkeepsie. He was such a lost, tortured and gentle soul who was also a gentleman, you know the type that opened doors for a woman and walked them home to make sure they were safe? Well that was Blake!! He will always hold that special place in my heart and is right up there on my list of BBF's and with all the books I have read he has always stayed right up on the top spot.

I knew returning to Poughkeepsie was going to be one hell of a bumpy heart wrenching ride because the first story and characters had floored me and left me in an emotional mess for days after I finished. I was left wondering what became of Beckett when he rode off on his bike leaving his family, the love of his life and Poughkeepsie behind him!! I was still wanting to find out what lay ahead for this messed-up, hot, alpha male.

"His heart overflowed with good intentions but his fists felt best covered in blood."

Starting Return to Poughkeepsie I was pulled in straight away, Debra Anastasia has a style of writing that makes the characters and setting jump out of the page like a 3D movie and oh my, if these two books where made in to a film it would be a Hollywood blockbuster!! Could it get any better than that? Well yes it could, this story just took my breath away and stopped my heart more times than I would like to admit!! I found my self gasping for breath with suspense and my head was exploding with all the action.

We have all the characters that we grew to love in the first book and are introduced to more to love and hate in this sequel. Now I'm not normally drawn to males that fart, slobber, grunt and shed hair everywhere, but I fell for 'G' he was just so adorable. I would give him a home any day and even let him dry hump my leg whenever he had the urge!! But this story is very much owned by Beckett and Eve and with this couple you know things are going to get crazy, I mean bad ass, hot sexy crazy, with lots of action in all departments.

"If all this time between them had taught him anything, it was that they were orbiting the same fate. Together, always together, even when physically apart."

When it comes to strong leading ladies Eve takes the Grammy for this title, I mean I don't know whether to lust her or love her. She has everything you look for in a main character with added lethal killer sex appeal, while still being that girl who wants a family, children and the love of a good man.
Then you have Beckett who is one hell of a hot mess. He is a what-you-see-is-what-you-get kinda guy, he never holds back on his words (which left me blushing and fanning myself) while his emotions are just so raw and intense. I fell in lust with Beckett in the first book but in this one it turned into love with all these qualities and his quick-witted sexy humour which left me panting for more.
Eve and Beckett are made for each other, each one sacrificing their own love and happiness to help and keep safe their family and friends.

I really don't want to go into the story as I feel a reader should be allowed to experience the story for the first time without reading spoilers or snippets from the story, but I can tell you now you need to hold onto the handlebars of this book as its a thrilling, sexy, emotional ride and I am letting you in on one spoiler!!! I am ecstatic its not the end for the Poughkeepsie series, so this just leaves me one more thing to say I bloody love you Debra for bringing us these captivating, emotional stories, this next book can't fast enough!!

I wish I could give this book more  Kick Arse Stars!! But as the highest is 5 here you go!!!

Guest Post
An Interview with Beckett Taylor

When we got the chance to interview the dark and dangerous hunk that is Beckett Taylor you can bet Simone jumped at the chance to offer her services as interviewer, jumped? more like pleaded! I have to admit at this point I'd not read Poughkeepsie, I know, I know!! Don't shout at me, I've since read it and I have to say this is one of those books that will stay with me forever, I love those brothers!!
Any way, back to the interview, Simone managed to ask Beckett a few questions without drooling too much, so she says!

Simone: Looking back on your life would you have done anything different?
Beckett: Not much. I think your first reaction is the right one. Except for Mouse. That night I will always want to relive and do different.

Simone: Do you ever feel any regret or remorse for the people you have killed?
Beckett: Not the bad ones. I protect my own.

Simone: Do you have any regrets?
Beckett: I don’t have time for regrets, again Mouse is really my only one. I miss him every damn day.

Simone: Can you ever see yourself not in a life of crime? If so, what do you see yourself doing?
Beckett: When you fight to survive, it’s hard to put your fists in your pockets. But I really think running a liquor store would be cool. Giving poor bastards a chance when no one else will see them anymore. I’d like that.

Simone: Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
Beckett:  Between a beautiful woman’s legs. That’s the goal.

Simone: Speaking of  a beautiful woman, where do you see Eve & yourself in the future? That's if you see a future with you both in it of course!
Beckett:Future is a long time. How about tomorrow? Tomorrow I’d love to sit with her on my damn couch, with nobody shooting at us either.

Simone:  When did you realise that you loved her?
Beckett: I knew when I had to leave her. She made me hope for her future. Doesn’t get stronger than that.

Simone: Do you think you would make a good dad?
Beckett:  I’d die for them, but I didn’t have a father so I’m not sure that’s enough. I’d die for any kid. Is that how it goes? Maybe, then.

Simone: Saying that, would you like to have children sometime?
Beckett: Children are my kryptonite. They are so freaking little. My niece and nephews already slay me. My lifestyle sucks for raising a kid.

I'd like to say a huge thank you to Beckett Taylor for giving up some of his precious time to chat with me and I hope I didn't embarrass myself too much by drooling and swooning!

About the Author

Debra Anastasia is busy, just like every other mom. There's dinner, the dogs, the two kids, the two kids, and her ongoing battle with...ahem... digestive issues, which combined with her adolescent boy sense of humor makes for colorful and sometimes cringe-worthy social media updates. Her first love and crowning achievement is her thriving career as the weirdest mom on the block.
Her writing started a decent handful of years ago when--along with the animals and humans in her house--the voices of characters started whispering stories in Debra's ear. Insomnia was the gateway to plots that wouldn't give up, wouldn't let go. Now they stalk her everywhere. Halfway through making lunches, a twist takes hold and--fingers full of peanut butter--she finds somewhere, anywhere to write it down.
She's eternally grateful to Omnific Publishing, which has now published four of her books: two in the Seraphim Series and two in the Poughkeepsie Brotherhood Series, as well as her novella, Late Night with Andres. That one is special because 100% of the proceeds go to breast cancer research. (So go get it right now, please!) She also very much appreciates her open-minded readers, who embrace everything she has to offer, with a focus on anti-heroes and bathroom humor.
Debra lives in Maryland with her family. You can find her at DebraAnastasia.com and on Twitter @Debra_Anastasia. But be prepared.

Staring down at my chest, she takes a step closer to me and whispers miserably, “I’m here to let Brad fuck me.” My cheek ticks and head implodes. She steps closer to me to add, “He’s going to fuck me. Fuck me til I forget you. Til I forget I ever met you. He’s helping me drown you out and I like when I’m not thinkin’ about you.” She looks into my eyes and repeats on a whisper, “You’re poison.”

She's living her dream...

Kylie Ryans is the biggest thing to come out of Nashville since, well, since Trace Corbin. With a hit album and a powerful label behind her, she appears to be the girl who has it all.

But appearances can be deceiving.

Fresh out of rehab, Trace Corbin is ready to take on the world. Just not the girl he walked away from. Because if there's one thing he knows for certain, it's that the people you love are the ones who have the power to destroy you.

As their worlds collide, they'll have to make the ultimate choice. Follow their dreams, or give it all up for love.

They say love conquers all, but for Kylie and Trace, it just might wreck everything they've worked for.
