Until I Break (A Twisted Novel)

In love, sometimes what you fear most is exactly what you need.

Laura Drake is an author.  She writes bestselling paranormal romances that continue to top the charts.  She is sharp.  She is confident.  She is in control.
And she doesn't exist.
Samantha Jansen is the woman behind the wig, the woman most of the world doesn't know exists.  She is shy.  She is insecure.  She is nothing like her main character or  her alter ego.  She is scarred—deeply scarred—by a past she can’t let go of and a present she can’t make peace with.
Samantha’s dreams are consumed by one man, the broken hero from her books.  Mason Strait is both her wildest fantasy and her most terrifying nightmare.
When Samantha meets Alec Brand, a corporate consultant, it is as though Mason has come to life.  Alec is handsome to a fault, as elegant as he is arrogant, and more intense than any man has a right to be.
Samantha is soon sucked into a world that mirrors the fiction she writes.  Just like her main character, Daire Kirby, Samantha finds herself unable to resist the forbidden lure of Alec.  And just like Daire, she also finds that she is faced with taking a chance on a man who could either set her free or destroy her.
The scale tilts toward destruction when Samantha finds out that Alec is as much a work of fiction as Mason.  And he has scars of his own, scars that could ruin them both.

Hot little teaser!

The Skinny on Michelle

New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author, M. Leighton, is a native of Ohio. She relocated to the warmer climates of the South, where she can be near the water all summer and miss the snow all winter. Possessed of an overactive imagination from early in her childhood, Michelle finally found an acceptable outlet for her fantastical visions: literary fiction. Having written over a dozen novels, these days Michelle enjoys letting her mind wander to more romantic settings with sexy Southern guys, much like the one she married and the ones you'll find in her latest books. When her thoughts aren't roaming in that direction, she'll be riding horses, swimming in ponds and experiencing life on a ranch, all without leaving the cozy comfort of her office.

Review: Undertaking Love by Kat French

The moment love-phobic Marla Jacobs discovers that the shop next to her Little White Wedding Chapel is to become a funeral parlour, she declares all-out war.
Marla’s chapel in the sleepy Shropshire countryside has become a nation-wide sensation, but the arrival of Funeral Director Gabriel Ryan threatens everything Marla has worked for. She can picture the scene: wedding limos fighting for space in the street with hearses; brides bumping into widows; bouquets being swapped for wreaths
Marla’s not going down without a fight. She enlists a motley crew of weird and wonderful local supporters, and the battle lines are drawn. But, as soon as Marla meets her nemesis, she realises just how much trouble she’s really in. His gypsy curls and Irish lilt make her stomach fizz – how is she supposed to concentrate on destroying him, when half the time she’s struggling not to rip the shirt off his back?
Funny, romantic, and dangerously sexy, UNDERTAKING LOVE is a delightful debut from an exciting new voice in Women’s fiction.

I was lucky enough to receive an early copy of Undertaking Love  from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
If you've read Knight & Play  by Kitty French then you'll be familiar with her work. This is her debut novel under the pen name Kat French and wow, what a debut it is. If you're looking for another Lucien Knight you won't find him but you WILL find Gabriel who's totally different but equally sexy and swoonworthy!!

I read Undertaking Love  over two nights, would have read it in one day but work got in the way! Loved it and can't recommend it enough.
The story centres around the two main characters Gabe and Marla but it also delves into lives and loves of their friends and neighbours.
Think of the film Love Actually  and you've got Undertaking Love  in a nutshell...a funny and beautiful story of love shining through no matter what.
I fell in love with the sensitive but passionate Gabriel immediately, who wouldn't with his dark curls and sexy Irish accent?
I cried, I mean really cried, with Marla in one scene but can't say why without giving away some of the plot.
My heart melted and broke for Dora and Ivan and I loved Jonny, Marla's witty and flamboyantly gay wedding celebrant with his "Oprah-inspired neck wiggle."
I laughed quite a lot at some of the hilarious scenes, the dinner party being one of my favourites and I also sobbed until I couldn't see to read and my throat hurt... seriously, at the OMIGOD jaw droppers. Without going into too much detail (don't want to spoil it) the letter broke me! You'll know why when you read it.
Undertaking Love  is a MUST read for all you hopeless romantics out there.

Somehow, tea served with a side order of formaldehyde didn't hold quite the same appeal.

Gabe's accent was enough to make a nun's knicker elastic twang.

His soft Irish lilt was full of gravel, as if the man had actually swallowed a bucket of blarney stones.

She is more than just my guiding light. She is the rock that this lighthouse stands on.

Kissing Fire

Preston Mitchell has many secrets. As an undercover DEA agent, he’s lived a life of danger and obscurity. A relationship was never a consideration...until the lovely Avery Middleton stumbles into his life.

To the outsider, Avery has it all...wealth, family, connections and a great job. But on the inside, she’s miserable. With a selfish mother driving her to the brink of insanity, a kooky neighbor that has zany plans for her to become a sumo wrestler, and a social life that’s in the toilet, Avery decides her only salvation is to get the hell out of town and start a new life. So she moves across the country and right into the path of hot and sexy, Preston.

Unfortunately, Avery ends up being in the wrong place at the wrong time and is now running for her life. Preston is determined to protect her but she suddenly finds herself irresistibly captivated by him. There’s only one problem. Preston’s covert missions have created a load of mental baggage resulting in an impenetrable wall around him that no one can break through. But Avery rocks Preston’s world because she is nothing like anyone he’s ever met and something extraordinary begins to develop between them. Can their love survive in this world, where danger, intrigue and deception lurk on every corner?

Kissing Fire is the third in the "Edge" series but I didn't realise this until after I read it. Although I would've preferred to read the books in order it didn't make any difference to the story, the author made sure you knew the background of the supporting characters from the previous stories without feeling like you'd missed out. To be honest I was thinking those characters would make great sequels, so imagine my delight when I find out they'd already been turned into books...Edge of Disaster and Shattered Edge.

Anyway, I digress...
He's hot, sexy and tattooed and she's funny, sassy and curvy. He has a dangerous undercover job that could be a possible threat to her, she has a sumo wrestling friend that could be a possible threat to him!
I started laughing from the first page and didn't stop, there are some hilarious moments, involving suspect packages and German Shepherd bomb dogs which had me crying with laughing, and kitty, oh I loved kitty!! (trust me you will laugh!) Avery's sumo wrestling friend is a hoot who doesn't give a damn what people think and doesn't have a clue about fashion and likes to give Avery gifts- cue more hilarious scenes. We should all have at least one friend like Melissa!
There aren't many books I've read where I like the female lead as much as the male lead but Avery joins the very exclusive and short list. I loved her sense of humour, her sense of drama, like when she got a stitch in her side and thought her lungs were gonna explode after running, then realising she'd only ran a few feet!
My heart went out to Preston or, as I like to call him, The Pierced Tattooed One, because of what he'd gone through in his past, what is it about broken f***ed up men that has us girls turning to mush? My heart melted when he opened up to Avery and just when I'm smiling to myself and sighing there's an OMIGOD!! moment that made my jaw drop.
I liked the way the story is told from both POV's and the way humour plays a big part, my kindle is nearly yellow with all the hi lighting. I particularly liked the fact that Avery is a curvier girl, and like most of us, has issues with them, thinking no man could possibly find them attractive. Maybe that's why I connected more with her, I don't know but, what I do know is that, whenever I see the name A M Hargrove I know I'm in for a damn good read!!
A very funny read but also very hot, heart breaking and heart melting, simply put Kissing Fire is a MUST have for your e-book or bookshelf, go read it then go tell your friends to jump on board the Preston Party!!

Picture Perfect

Fashion design major Cat Mitchell has a closet full of gorgeous clothes - and not a single thing fits. After two years of runway modeling for easy cash, an accident shattered her lower leg bone and her self-esteem in just one swift fall. Ten months of no exercise, prescription steroids, comfort eating and yoga pants meant returning to campus as a size twelve instead of her former size two.

When her gorgeous long-time friend with benefits sees her for the first time after her accident and snubs her in front of all her friends, Cat’s self-image hits rock bottom. Her sorority sisters all insist that she looks gorgeous, but all Cat sees is the roll of her stomach when she sits down, or the dimpling at the back of her thighs that wasn't there last year. Cat’s therapist prescribes something radical to stop the downward spiral - nude modeling for a nearby college's human form drawing classes.

When Cat faces her fears and bares it all for the class, she realizes that she's posing naked in front the most gorgeous, buffest guy she's ever seen in her life. He asks her out after the class, and after one steamy night and six weeks of perfect dates together, Cat's absolutely smitten.

But when Cat goes home with Nate for Thanksgiving, she discovers something shocking from his recent past that proves that he hasn’t always been so encouraging of women of all shapes and sizes. Cat has no idea what to think, but she does know one thing - this might destroy their relationship before it's even had a chance to get off the ground.

Before Cat can figure out whether the real Nate is the sensitive, adoring guy she fell in love with, or an undercover asshole, she'll have to finally feel comfortable in her own skin - even if it means leaving him forever.

I knew from the first page I was going to like Cat's story and I wasn't disappointed.
As someone who has struggled with her weight most of her adult life I totally understood how Cat felt every time she looked in the mirror and wasn't happy with the image staring back at her. I've been there...sucking in my stomach, in the hope that my top will suddenly fit and lying on my bed, on my back, with a coat hanger hooked into the zipper of my favourite jeans struggling to get them fastened and nearly busting a blood vessel in the process!
Ok, Cat may not be seriously overweight compared to some people but she has put on enough weight for it to affect the way she sees herself and the way she thinks others see her. She can't stop thinking of how good she used to look and how much confidence she used to have when she was much thinner. All she can see is a roll of fat round her waist and thicker thighs that rub together when she walks which makes her depressed and brings her self-esteem right down, especially when Jake, her douchebag "friend with benefits", humiliatingly snubs her in front of her friends. My heart went out to her, I wanted to put my arms round her and then go punch him!!
I loved sweet, sensitive and sexy as hell Nate who fell in love with Cat, helped her come to terms with her new size, made her feel comfortable with her more curvier body and showed her she was still sexy and beautiful. I want my very own Nate who will make me feel like I look a million dollars even when wearing my baggy old clothes and feeling like crap! My eyes filled up when he made "that speech". Really, where can I find my own Nate?

Picture Perfect is a heart warming story that teaches us that beauty really does come within and if you have the confidence to believe in yourself and believe that you are beautiful, no matter how the outside packaging looks, then others will see it and believe it too.
