Blog Tour: Rusty Nailed by Alice Clayton + 5* review

Title: Rusty Nailed (Cocktail #2)
Author: Alice Clayton
Release Date: June 24, 2014

Synopsis

In this sequel to Wallbanger, the second book in the Cocktail series, fan favorites Caroline and Simon negotiate the rollercoaster of their new relationship while house-sitting in San Francisco.

Playing house was never so much fun—or so confusing. With her boss on her honeymoon, Caroline’s working crazy long hours to keep the interior design company running—especially since she’s also the lead designer for the renovation of a gorgeous old hotel on Sausalito. So with her hotshot photographer boyfriend gallivanting all over the world for his job, she and Simon are heavy-duty into “absence makes the heart grow fonder” mode. Neither has any complaints about the great reunion sex, though! Then Simon decides he’s tired of so much travelling, and he’s suddenly home more. A lot more. And wanting Caroline home more, too. Though their friends’ romantic lives provide plenty of welcome distraction, eventually Caroline and Simon have to sort their relationship out. Neither wants “out of sight, out of mind,” but can they create their own happy mid-ground cliché?

Simone's Review
*ARC received in return for an honest review

Rusty Nailed is the sequel to Wallbanger, and the second book in the Cocktail series. If you haven't read Wallbanger yet, I suggest you do NOT continue any further as Rusty Nailed is a continuation of Caroline and Simon's story and my review contains a few little Wallbanger   spoilers.

Alice Clayton is another one of those authors who you 1-click her books without so much as looking at the blurb and cover, because you know what you are going to get...an author that delivers and never disappoints. Her unique writing style has you laughing and smiling with her witty, cheeky banter and one-liners to blushing and melting with hot wallbanging moments in the next.

So on to my review:

I could not wait to delve into this book to be back with my "Wallbanger" and "Nightie Girl". Oh, and lets not forget Clive! He gets his own little adventure in this sequel, as the story just would not be the same without him. All the old gang are back and play a big part to this sequel as well. I can't help relating all these characters to the TV series Friends, with their witty humour, relationship fights, break-ups and make-ups.

We start to see Simon and Caroline's relationship become more grown up and serious, they take the huge step of moving in with each other. Rusty Nailed delves deeper in to Simon's past and makes me love him a bit more (if that's even possible). The sexy banter between Simon and Caroline had me laughing and smiling. Alice Clayton really knows how to inject humour into sexy scenes and pulls it off every time (laughing, while fanning yourself is a hard thing to do) but it's a must when reading one of Alice's books.

I’m Simon’s girlfriend. He was once the Harem Master, and now I’m his girlfriend.

“Well, good goddamn, Dr. Phil, color me impressed,” I said, clinking my coffee cup next to his. “So what do we do next? Y’know, as people in a relationship after they’ve resolved a conflict?”

“Pretty sure a blow job should follow this,” he said seriously.

I loved that the story was not just centred around Simon and Caroline but also with their nearest and dearest friends, Neil, Sophia, Ryan, Mimi, plus her boss Jillian and her ever so swoonworthy hubby Benjamin. This story is about the love between couples and friends and how you stick together no matter what. But Simon and Caroline are still my favorite couple throughout this series so far, I love the way they just bounce off each other, whether they are arguing, flirting or just being plain hot and sexy, they compliment each other perfectly.

"Look, I adore you, and I want a home. Again. With you."
That did it. Cue the waterworks.
"You're killing me Simon." I sniffled, tears and nose beginning to run.
"I know. I'm very cute when I'm vulnerable," he said, making me snort in a very unladylike manner.

Rusty Nailed, for me, is a deliciously sweet cocktail with a splash of sexy, witty humour to wet the taste buds, injected with just the right balance of romance. Now I am left waiting for the next book in the Cocktail series Screwdriver, which cannot come fast enough for me.

About the Author

Alice Clayton is a novelist with an unholy love for her KitchenAid mixer. Making her home in St Louis, she enjoys gardening but not weeding, baking but not cleaning up afterwards, and is trying desperately to get her long time boyfriend to make her an honest woman. Hi sweetie!!

After working for years in the cosmetics industry as a makeup artist, esthetician, and national educator for a major cosmetics company, Alice picked up a pen (read laptop) for the first time at 33 to begin a new career, writer. Combining her love of storytelling with a sense of silly, she was shocked and awed to be nominated for a Goodreads Author award in 2010 for her debut novels, The Redhead Series.

Alice has penned three novels, The Unidentified Redhead,The Redhead Revealed, and coming soon in November 2012, Wallbanger. She thinks you should purchase them immediately. She’s not kidding, not even a little bit. Everyone needs some comedic erotica in their lives. She is hard at work on the third book in The Redhead Series, set to release in Spring of 2013, continuing the saucy and sexual escapades of everyone’s favorite couple, Jack and Grace.

Additionally, Alice loves spending time with her besties on Not Your Mother's Podcast, make sure you check them out at notyourmotherspodcast.com or over on iTunes. 3 women rushing towards their forties still acting like teenagers. A saucy little mix of sex, love, relationships, pop cultural, celebrity gossip and All Things Jake Ryan.

Alice enjoys pickles, Bloody Mary’s, 8 hours of sleep, and a good pounding.

Finally Alice would also like all her readers and listeners to help her convince Mt. Alice that the only other thing that would make her truly happy is finally bringing home a Bernese Mountain Dog. She is totally serious. And done talking about herself in the third person…
