Two Roads Blog Tour with 5* review, excerpt & giveaway

The only person poetry-loving Cali Monroe hates more than herself is Logan Waters, the geeky kid who lives in the dorm building next to hers.

Ever since Cali's parents told her she would amount to nothing, she has felt entirely inadequate. Friendless and alone, she takes on the mean girl role in hopes it will make her feel better--and Logan serves as the perfect target. He infuriates her with his obnoxiously long lashes, his all too perfect dimpled smile, and his complete lack of personality outside of his intelligence. It doesn't hurt that he's part of the reason her brother is dead, either. So Cali hates him, and he returns the favor. Thus, their prank-filled, insult-driven rivalry is born, and torturing Logan quickly becomes the highlight of her life.

But when Cali's parents set them up on a blind date, she begins to realize Logan might not be as boring as she always thought. He shares her love of poetry, takes a sadistic pleasure in making fun of crepes, and he makes her blush when he calls her smile pretty.

And hey, maybe those long lashes of his aren't that obnoxious after all…

Two Roads is New Adult Romance about finding love, standing out, and learning to embrace who you are. It contains some language and mild sexual content.

“Then go to him,” I say quietly, and now I look up to meet her gaze. Her brown eyes are hard and strong, watching me intently. “Go out with him,” I continue. “Or don’t. But don’t let him go. Because if someone can be constantly on your mind like that, if they can always make you smile, if they can cheer you up one way or another, then you have to go to them. You have to tell them what they mean to you and then you can go out with them or you can stay friends or you can barely ever talk to them, but you enjoy yourself, you have fun, and then you hold fast to them and never, ever let them go. Because if someone, just by their existence, can brighten up your whole day, you have to try like hell to keep them in your life.” I take a long breath as soon as the words finish tumbling out of my mouth, a jumble of thoughts and feelings that, for me, couldn’t be more true. I don’t know where they came from other than straight from that goddamn unpredictable heart of mine, and as soon as the words leave my mouth, I know my subconscious has been working on them for a long time.

Simone's Review

When Logan and I are going at it like this, we're in our own little world. A world full of hate and dying puppies, sure, but our own world all the same. It's just me and him, just our insults and our pranks and our twisted, refreshing, perfect and so screwed-up hate for each other.

***Arc given in exchange for an honest review!!

I am still trying to get my head and emotions together after reading Two Roads. I was swept away on this roller coaster story of two young lives and one tragic family event that sends them into different directions.
Carli and Logan end up going to the same college years after being torn apart. They both have built up their own fake persona to hide their true feelings of sadness, guilt and loss. These feelings are then catapulted at each other in a very warped fighting match between the two of them. They both channel their feelings through pranks, challenges and hurtful words!

"Logan Waters," I say, smiling. "I hate you so goddamn much."

"And Cali Monroe," he says back, matching my smile. "I hate you more than anything else in the world."

I laughed, cringed and cried at this heart-breaking love/hate relationship between Carli and Logan. I loved the way their warped relationship slowly broke down to reveal their very real, raw feelings of the tragic loss they both experienced and the intense love they had for each other. I was also constantly intrigued to find out what the next prank was going to be and Carli and Logan never disappointed, as they got bigger and better as they went on. But also finding my heart breaking when they went too far.

Everything is intense when it comes to Logan. Everything feels amplified. The hate, the confusion, the passion, all of it is so freaking strong.

I loathe him, loathe how he succeeds everywhere I fail, loathe that he knows how to get to me better than anyone else in the world, loathe that I need his rivalry more than anything.
I adored Logan, he sure is not my typical tattooed, rich, ripped book boyfriend! But I found myself lusting after this geeky, intelligent, long lashed, poet. I loved the way Logan's poems seemed to be the only thing that made Carli feel better and forget all the hurt and sadness for just a little while. Logan also put his feelings about Carli in to his poems, they actually made my heart swell in some parts and break in others.

Carli really was a troubled soul, and my heart went out to her! But there are some parts of the story I found myself shouting at my kindle at her saying " No, you really have gone too far!" thinking that her pranks were really just so heartless and cruel.

I don't mind being called a bitch.
Being a bitch means I'm strong.
Being a bitch means I'm surviving, and sometimes that's all I can do, I survive.

I would like to thank L.M. Augustine for giving me a chance to read Two Roads for an honest review of Carli and Logan's twisted, perfect and so screwed-up hate for each other.

"There are not two roads when it comes to you; there is only one road that leads to your love."

"But all along, that was you, You were my path, you were my happiness. I guess sometimes in life, the things you need most can be right in front of you the whole goddamn time."
