Excerpt

I don’t even care that there are now three different girls talking to Reed. I sneak up behind him and tap him on the shoulder. He turns around and the look of shock and surprise on his face causes me to start giggling. He turns completely around with his back to the other three girls and gives me a smile that touches his blue eyes. His squared jaw highlights his smile perfectly. In this instant of a moment I decide I want to kiss Reed even if it’s just for fun and to forget.“You’re kidding me. Wow! I can’t believe you came here.” “I told you we would. You didn’t think I would do it, did you?” “Honestly, no, but I was hoping. I never see you out on the weekends anymore, so this is a great surprise.” We stand there for a minute and then he orders me a beer. I take it, but nurse it. I’ve had a bit much already and don’t want the spins. He asks me and Quinn to play a game of pool with him and Matt. Matt wants to play girls against guys, but Reed says no way that he wants me on his team. I warn him that I am not that good, but alcohol may help my case. We play the game and I actually do pretty well. Reed touches me every chance he gets and is very flirty. It’s my turn and I have to bend over to make a shot, but to be honest I forget that I have a dress on. “Shit, Katherine,” he lets out in a bit of gruff tone and walks up behind me to cover me. I laugh at him. “Oops, I forgot about my dress.” “You look good enough as it is and now with a dress on. Jesus, I don’t need to get in a fight.” He is still pressed behind me as I continue to make my shot. I miss completely because to be honest I’m completely distracted. “I doubt anyone noticed, but thanks for protecting me.” He steps back and I turn around. I decide to be bold and kiss his cheek. “Trust me, you were noticed.” He moves a piece of hair from my face and the touch sends a chill through me. “God, you are so beautiful.”

Steamy Excerpt
Riviera Bleu Benson stomped up the steps of the almost-completed multimillion dollar home. She jammed her master key into the lock and opened the door. What she really wanted to do was slam the huge, beautifully hand-hewn door as hard as she could, but she refrained. Marsha Sue Flannery, who Riviera indirectly worked for, had put her in a severely foul mood. Known as the interior designer to Beaver Creek’s rich and famous, Marsha Sue was a mean and spiteful bitch.
“You’re behind on all your homes. You’d better pick it up or else.”
“Or else what, Marsha Sue? Are you gonna fire me?”
“Ha ha. Very funny, Riviera. You know I can’t do that. I will, however, tell all my clients that they can’t move into their new homes because their painter is a slack-ass.”
“Marsha Sue, that’s a blatant lie and you know it.”
“Not the way I see it. So get off your slack ass and get to work.” Marsha Sue ended the call without giving Riviera a chance to respond.
Riviera wanted to scream. She worked like a dog and Marsha Sue damn well knew it. She huffed as she twisted her way through the massive house, eventually entering the room where she was creating her masterpiece, a ceiling trompe l’oeil. It created the illusion of a domed chamber with a three-dimensional clouded blue sky above it.
Reaching into her pocket for her iPod, she found nothing but an empty space. Damn! What else could go wrong today?
Examining her work, she prepared her paints and brushes when she thought she heard a voice calling her name.
“Riviera.” The voice was deep, soft, and husky.
It startled her. No one was supposed to be there. The house was empty, and not quite finished. The general contractor, Benjamin Shandon, or Shan as he preferred to be called, had some final touches to complete, but they wouldn’t be done until Riviera had finished all her painting. Perhaps she was imagining things.
Bending down to grab her supplies, her name reached her ears again. This time, she knew she wasn’t mistaken. It was a man’s sexy voice.
Who would be calling her and in that tone of voice? Did someone hear her come in and did they need her? She walked down the hall and looked into each room.
When she reached the fifth room, the door was half open. She stuck her head in. Initially stunned, she then became mesmerized at the vision before her. Quietly pushing the door open, she inched her way in.
Shan was stretched out on a rollaway bed, shirtless with his tight jeans open and unzipped. Riviera always thought him to be dark and appealing, but this stepped it up to an unprecedented level.
Thick, chocolate-brown hair that held a few lightened streaks from the summer sun fanned out across the pillow. Onyx lashes formed crescents against his tawny cheeks. Sculpted cheekbones rose high upon his face, creating slight hollows beneath them. But those lips, full Cupid’s bow lips, were slightly parted as his breath rushed in and out in short bursts.
Her eyes inched lower and she drank in his cut torso and abs that narrowed to a chiseled V. Riviera’s eyes wanted to linger but didn’t dare because something else, something primal, drew them farther down his spectacular anatomy.
In his gorgeous hand was an amazing erection, which he was stroking up and down, up and down. Riviera felt like she was looking at that proverbial train wreck, knowing she should get the heck out of there, but at the same time, she was incapable of wrenching her eyes off such a carnal image. Because of her troubled past, she’d never responded to a man’s body before, but the sight of him aroused her unlike anything she’d ever known. Flames spread across her, scorching every inch of her body. Her belly instantly tightened as the muscles of her sex clenched. Her nipples hardened into precious pearls and demanded to be sucked like something she’d only read about in her romance novels. Every cell, every molecule in her body squeezed and tensed as her blood heated and her pulse raced. She burned and ached with a need so strong, she wanted to slip her hand down the front of her jeans and rub herself to match the rhythm of the man she was so intently watching.

About The Author
One day, on her way home from work as a sales manager, A. M. Hargrove, realized her life was on fast forward and if she didn't do something soon, it would quickly be too late to write that work of fiction she had been dreaming of her whole life.  So, she rolled down the passenger window of her fabulous (not) company car and tossed out her leather briefcase.  Luckily, the pedestrian in the direct line of fire was a dodge ball pro and had über quick reflexes enabling him to avoid getting bashed in the head.  Feeling a tad guilty about the near miss, A. M. made a speedy turn down a deserted side street before tossing her crummy, outdated piece-of-you-know-what lap top out the window.  She breathed a liberating sigh of relief, picked up her cell phone, called her boss and quit her job.  Grinning, she made another call to her hubs and told him of her new adventure (after making sure his heart was beating properly again).

So began A. M. Hargrove's career as a YA/NA and Adult Romance writer. Her books include Kissing Fire, Edge of Disaster, Shattered Edge, the series the Guardians of Vesturon (Survival, Resurrection, Determinant, Beginnings and reEmergent), Dark Waltz and the upcoming release Tragically Flawed.

Other than being in love with being in love, she loves chocolate, ice cream and coffee and is positive they should be added as part of the USDA food groups.

Review
*ARC received in return for honest review.

*Warning - reading this novel may cause serious over heating!

An emotional read with filled with romance, suspense, drama and Shin-ola HOT scenes!!

We are first introduced to Riviera Benson, who's story is so heart-breaking, I found myself reaching for my tissues in the first chapter. Riviera leaves a very disturbing, sickening and abusive relationship and flees to start a new life. Things start finally to be going in the right direction when she finds a new flat mate Amie (who I adore and hope, may be a opener for a spin off story *wink wink* *nudge nudge*).  Riviera and Amie fast become friends and I loved their girly banter and through both their own tragedies help each other to face their own demons.

Riviera lands a dream job with top interior designer to Beaver Creek's rich and famous, Marsha Sue Flannery and things start to look up for her even though her new boss is the 'She-Devil' from Hell! You just KNOW she is trouble with a capital T!

There were times I found myself sobbing and my heart breaking for, Riviera especially when she had her terrible debilitating panic attacks. I was right there with her going through her emotions with her. I also admired her for picking herself up and moving forward to get on with her life. Riviera is a strong woman trying desperately to overcome the 'shitty' hand life has dealt her but she is still very vulnerable and so very broken.

OMG! "Shit, Shan".
"Shit, Shan and shin-ola

This is what I thought when we are first introduced to the panty-dropping, over dominating, sexy Benjamin 'Shan' Shandon, owner of Shandon Homes. I honestly thought my ovaries had exploded after one seriously hot scene. I was with Riviera behind that door, watching, oh boy, and the jacuzzi scene...OH-MY-EFFIN-GOD I wanna take a jacuzzi Shan-style!!!!

Shan has had his own share of heartbreak and tragedy, which he works like a man possessed to try and forget, pushing anyone away who tries to get to close to him.

This soon changes when he meets Riviera. Shan makes their first encounter a memorable one (but not in a good way) but oh my does he make up for it!

Shan is so damn dominant and sexy, he had me fanning and blushing, (a lot) I wanna jacuzzi - Shan style!! But he's also so sweet, thoughtful and protective. I loved the way their love for each other also healed their tragic past, and my heart shattered when Riviera  finally trusted Shan enough to tell him not only the abuse she had from her past boyfriend, but the heart wrenching abuse which involves her own parents.

Just when I think yes! things are going great for the couple, events take a sinister turn and threaten their future with dangerous results! Don't worry, NO SPOILERS but I will say look out for the dangerous, bad-ass but totally smexy Drexel. This man has a story that is begging to be told.

Tragically Flawed  will take you on a very tragic, heat wrenching, fast paced, panty dropping sexy ride and I am not sure I want to get off. All the characters had real depth and I even loved/hated Marsha Sue as her character was so well written.

Romance, suspense, drama, tension, heartbreak and HOT!!! Exactly what I've come to expect from A.M. Hargrove.

Excerpt

At one point I see her eyeing the tattoo on my forearm and before I know it her fingers graze over the italic words and the jagged, raised scar that underlines them as she reads aloud to herself. “Vulneratus non victus. What does it mean?”

I begin to tell her about the time when a roadside IED hit the Humvee in front of mine. My left arm had been hanging out the window and a piece of shrapnel tore into it. I had a four inch gash that had required forty-two stitches, but other than that I’d been fine.

“It’s Latin for ‘wounded, but not conquered.’ We were fortunate to have not had any bad injuries, so when we got back the guys and I all went and got this tattoo to commemorate that those bastards tried, but failed.”

She pales slightly at the mention of my injury, no matter how minor, so I wrack my brain trying to find a way to change the conversation into something much lighter, even though her fingers trailing over the words on my arm are making my skin tingle, bringing all kinds of erotic thoughts to mind.

About the Author

Synopsis
Can they build a future on hope alone?

For years nurse and grief counselor Christie Bates has been teaching her patients to confront their fears, express themselves and trust in hope. But as her feelings for cancer survivor Eli Roberts and his two children grow, can she overcome her own fear and love a man who lives every day with the possibility of recurring illness?

Tackling cancer and single parenthood simultaneously has turned Eli into a devout realist. Which is why he finds Christie's perpetually upbeat attitude so aggravating. Still, despite himself, she's making a place in his heart. If only he could offer Christie more than an uncertain future.

Excerpt

“So, why were you two talking about me?” Eli probed, shifting in his shining black Oxfords. In the background, the piano keys banged out the song “Let’s Do It,” an off-key chorus accompanying it.
Gran’s husky contralto rose above the rest, belting out the lyrics, “Let’s fall in love…” as she gazed down at an eyebrow-waggling John. Why was life so uncomplicated for them? They were enjoying each other’s company, plain and simple. So why, when it came to her and Eli, did their distance seem insurmountable?
“Something about Becca thinking we like each other.” Christie’s voice came out unevenly—he was standing very close to her, near enough that she could feel the warmth of him.
“Hmm. Guess she knows how to read her dad, at least.” He ran a hand through his hair, the intensity in his eyes making her flinch and turn away.
Her chest rose and fell, colored dots appearing on the edge of her vision.
“Christie. Talk to me.”
She shook her head mutely, unable to meet his gaze. There were too many secrets her eyes might tell.
He cupped her elbow and steered her farther from the party guests until they stood alone in a far corner. A sign outside the window cast red light on his pale face.
“Am I really alone in this?” His voice sounded as tattered as a retired flag. “I didn’t want to press you after our run in the rain because you looked so…surprised by my admission that I want more. But can you really tell me you’re not feeling something for me, too? Because I’m losing my mind, losing sleep. Every waking moment is me thinking about you…about us.”
His urgent tone made her look up into his pleading eyes, the surge of hope in their depths making her heart leap.
She nodded and felt his hand tighten, his hold draw her close. Her eyes shut, and she shivered at the caress of his breath against her temple. This was it. All this time, imagining what it would be like to have Eli’s arms around her, to feel him against her, their hearts beating together…it was close to coming true and she wasn’t going to deny it any longer…even though she knew she didn’t deserve any of it. And Eli needed to know why.
She wanted to admit what was in her heart before things went further, but she became suddenly conscious of the quiet crowd and the dimmed lights.
“Time to sing everyone,” Mary said. She carried a chocolate sheet cake with loopy writing and a blaze of candles. Luckily everyone was looking her way and not theirs.
John pounded out the opening notes to “Happy Birthday.” Christie avoided Gran’s speculative gaze as she and Eli stepped from the shadows and joined the assembly. Her voice blended with the rest, her body relaxing against the warm arm encircling her waist. Time to tuck away her rational self and live in this perfect, happy moment. There’d be time enough for doubts later.
“Make a wish, Eli” John called. “You’ll need a big breath to blow out all those candles.”
The group laughed then hushed as he closed his eyes and inhaled long and deep. Christie stepped aside to join Becca, Tommy and a tail-wagging Scout. Eli’s breath exploded from him, obliterating every pinpoint of light and smearing some of the candle wax on the frosting. Wow. Whatever he’d wished for, he meant it.
“What happened to Mister I-don’t-believe-in-wishes?” John wheeled closer and ruffled Scout’s ears.
Eli shrugged. He picked off the candles and dropped them on a paper plate. “Guess I’ve seen the light.”
“So, what’d you wish for, Dad?” Becca asked, grabbing hold of Tommy’s finger as it inched toward the cake.
When the lights came back up, his eyes leveled on Christie.

“Something I can’t live without.”

Review

* ARC received in return for an honest review

Omigod, what deeply moving story!!!

Wish Me Tomorrow  is the worst BEST book I've read in a while...best because I loved it and worst because I sobbed buckets. I sobbed from 87% in until the end and a good TEN minutes afterwards. When I say sob I mean real ugly crying at it's worst...red, puffy, swollen eyes, blotchy face and a nose that refused to stop running, in short, a snot monster.

There wasn't one character that I didn't like...
Christie, the optimistic, upbeat nurse & grief counsellor who steps over cracks on pavements, always carries around a rabbit's foot for luck and has her own grief that she tries to keep buried.
Eli, the realist, who is in remission from cancer and coping with bringing up his two children on his own since his wife callously walked out on them before his diagnosis.
Becca, Eli's teenage daughter who is resentful about her dad's illness and his refusal to discuss it with them.
Tommy, Eli's young son who is utterly adorable and cute.
John, Eli's elderly neighbour who relies on Eli to be his cancer support buddy.
Laura, Christie's best friend and room-mate who always has Christie's well being at heart and encourages her to take a chance on Eli.
Rose, Christie's Irish, fun-loving Gran, with a twinkle in her eye and a spring in her step, who is always wanting to 'fix' her up with a potential boyfriend.
And last but not least Sweet Pea, Scout  and Angel,  the family dogs. Maybe it's because I'm a dog lover that I fell in love with them, but I adored the three of them.

I have to be honest and say that, only a few pages in I thought I was in for a depressing read but I was wrong. Although Wish Me Tomorrow  tells the story of how cancer affects the lives of the people it touches, it is also a deeply moving tale of finding love in the unlikeliest of places and reminds us to live for today and wish for a tomorrow.

Without giving away too much, there is a scene where someone is given a prognosis that doesn't look good. I won't lie to you it hit me hard, as I thought of the day my Dad was diagnosed with cancer and wondered what went through my parents' head the day they were told. Did they have the same reaction? It's safe to say I was a blubbering mess reading that scene and had to stop reading until I'd composed myself enough to carry on.

I would like to thank Karen Rock for giving me the opportunity to read Wish Me Tomorrow but more than that I would like to thank her for tackling this subject with a sensitivity and compassion that runs throughout the story.

She lives in the Adirondack Mountain region with her husband, her very appreciated beta-reader daughter and two King Charles Cavalier cocker spaniels who have yet to understand the concept of “fetch,” though they’ve managed to teach her the trick! Hmmmm… wonder how that happened?! She loves to connect with other romance fans!
