My Unexpected Forever Review

***IT'S SUGGESTED YOU READ MY EVERYTHING BEFORE READING MY UNEXPECTED FOREVER***

I expected a life of music.
I expected to raise my son.
It took one look to make everything change.
I never expected happiness.

I never expected to find her.
I never expected to feel desire.
I never expected I’d be a family man.
I never expected to be loved.
I never expected to fall in love.

They say you should expect the unexpected, I didn’t realize my unexpected would be the forever kind.

Review

What can I say but...I ADORE Harrison!!
If you loved Forever My Girl, you will ABSOLUTELY LOVE My Unexpected Forever...such an emotional read.

I have to be honest and I was a bit worried it wouldn't live up to Forever My Girl because I loved that book but I needn't have worried as I freakin' loved it. Heidi, you have another smash on your hands!

Katelyn is a widowed mother of two young girls, twins Elle and Peyton. She married her high school sweetheart, Mason. They were happy and in love and she thought they would grow old together until one fateful night he was killed in a car accident.

She is not ready to give up her love for her late husband just yet and certainly not to a tattooed drummer in a band. A band, her late husband's best friend, Liam, is lead singer with.

Harrison is a sexy, green-eyed tattooed, beanie wearing drummer in Liam Page's band 4225 West. He has successfully raised his young son, Quinn, on his own ever since Quinn's mother turned up with him one day soon after his birth and left without him.
Harrison first meets Katelyn and the twins when he visits Liam in Beaumont not long after Mason's funeral and he knows his life, and his heart, will never be the same again.

My Unexpected Forever is a beautiful story of finding love when, and with whom, you least expect it. I was hooked from the first page.

I fell in love with Harrison immediately. I loved the relationship he had built with his son, and I loved the way he interacted with the twins and finally won them over. Elle warmed to him straight away (who wouldn't?) but Peyton was a different story. I adored those girls.

My heart melted quite a few times, okay a lot of the time with Harrison, especially during a scene between him and Peyton and another when everyone was exchanging gifts...no spoilers. I adored Harrison for his sensitivity in recognising and accepting  Katelyn's feelings for her late husband and giving her the time she needed to mourn. But, all the while gently showing her it was okay to love another man, himself.  Did I tell you, I loved Harrison? *sighs*

My heart broke for Katelyn. A year on and she is still dealing with the grief of losing her husband and trying to help her daughters cope too. Now she has to try and fight these feelings she is starting to have for Harrison but knows she shouldn't have, right? She sees his tattoos and can't see past them, telling herself that he is definitely NOT her type. So why is he invading her thoughts all the time and fast becoming someone she needs in her life?

I cried until my throat hurt when Katelyn visited Mason's grave.
In fact, I shed lots of tears throughout this book, happy and sad but I also smiled and sighed a lot too.
When I wasn't reduced to a sobbing mess I was fanning myself due to those damn HOT sexy scenes!
I want to take a motorbike ride, Harrison James style. And I'll never look at a dressing table in the same light again. Omigod that was HOT!!

Of course you knew that there would have to be something or someone come in to throw a spanner in the works. This came in the form of the band's mad psychotic ex-manager Sam, rearing her jealous head. She's hell bent on destroying things for Liam and Harrison but to what lengths will she go to and how low will she stoop?

I loved the way Liam and Josie still played a big part in this book but not enough to detract from Katelyn and Harrison's story. And I also liked that Aubrey and Nick (My Everything) were, briefly, woven in too.

Oh and I HAVE to mention Harrison's song for Katelyn! Listen to his song below and play it while you read the scene where the band sing it for the first time...I dare you not to cry, I did!

I have gone through a roller coaster of emotions and am feeling rather battered. Do yourself a favour and stock up on tissues before you start reading...trust me.

Although I was pretty sad to leave Beaumont, I slowed down towards the last few chapters to avoid the end, I have a feeling it won't be long before we are visiting the residents of that town soon, one in particular...Jenna.

A definite MUST read.

I give My Unexpected Forever...

Our Review

*Arc given in exchange for an honest review

First can we start by saying WE LOVED this book and cannot WAIT for Girl in Love #3...Caisey Quinn, how the HELL do you expect us to wait til February???
Okay now that's out our system we'll try and do this book justice.

Andrea
Girl on Tour  focuses on Trace and Kylie's blossoming but struggling relationship. Misguidedly, they both feel they aren't worthy of each other's love. I knew the road wouldn't be smooth for them but I wasn't prepared for the heaviness I had in our heart and it tore me up.
Caisey warned us that we won't be getting our HEA just yet and.....NO SPOILERS!!!! I will say this though, you'll be shouting at your kindle/book when you read the sneak peak of Girl in Love  at the end.

Just as Kylie and Trace realise they are beginning to feel something for each other they are kept apart by their careers...both are signed up for separate tours.

Kylie is embarking on her first tour and has to spend 11 weeks apart from Trace. She's finding it hard enough without the blatant hostility she suffers from one of the two girls on the tour, why does she seem to hate her so much? Kylie is also worrying about her boyfriend, she's afraid he'll fall off the wagon while she's away from him.

Trace has been given a last chance, a make or break tour to help his failing career. The only snag is he's not alone. He has to share billing with Gretchen an ex girlfriend and drinking partner, whose career is also on a downward spiral, only she is still partying, hard. If Trace refuses to tour with Gretchen then the tour is off, the deal is non negotiable. Gretchen has not changed her ways since they last toured with each other, and now is raging alcoholic fighting her own demons, while seeming set on making Trace's life and tour as miserable as she can.

Simone
Trace's publicist and agent seems intent on pushing him into situations where he has to fight his craving for alcohol, and boy is Trace a damn sexy HOT mess, I had to stop reading while my heart was literately breaking for him, but on the other hand I was having visions of him in my bed with his tight jeans and cowboy hat laying on my bedroom floor!! (is it hot in here?) *fans oneself*

Andrea
I was right there every time Trace fought against the booze and I was right there again every time Kylie called him on his feelings and their relationship.
Oh, and when Kylie sang her song...*stops to cry*

Simone
I also loved Kylie's relationships with the two girls she was touring with. Introducing Mia (who is one bitch from hell) and seems like she gets off on hating Kylie every chance she gets, with sarcastic comments and catty remarks, whilst giving dirty looks that could kill. Then there's Lily, who is young and inexperienced to touring in the music scene! She is totally OMG over excited and has daddy issues big time!!  At the beginning there is major tense girl drama!! I found myself gritting my teeth, laughing and crying while these girls fought, cried, sang and stuck up for each other all the while battling against there own issues.
I do hope these sassy girls are in Girl In Love # 3, as I truly loved each of their own stories, and even I ended up admiring Gretchen over how hard she worked to face up to her demons and to put her life back on track.

Andrea
I particularly loved the scene with Kylie, Mia and Lily's dad. Boy, you REALLY don't want to piss Kylie off!! Oh, and let's not forget Kylie's hilarious straight-talking, no nonsense best friend Lulu...some of sayings made me laugh out loud and ask, "Did she really say that?"

Simone
Girl On Tour  pulled at my heart strings from the first page and was breaking it by the very last, and I truly hope and pray Trace and Kylie get their happy ever after in book 3, as their story so far, has broke my heart and I cannot think of any man that deserves it more than, the HOT mess, sexy tight jeaned, singer they call Trace!!

Andrea
You will definitely need your tissues for this one, and I mean a lot of them!!

Simone
Oh heck get a box full, you sure are going to need them!!

We give Girl On Tour a very worthy...

Wethering The Storm Review

Music journalist Tru Bennett has done the impossible: capture the heart of rock-star bad boy Jake Wethers. Now they’re busy planning a wedding and navigating their new life together in the US. Of course Tru misses London and her best friend, Simone, but living happily ever after with Jake in LA is going to be great…right?
Wrong. Even the bright California sun can’t whitewash the dark side of celebrity coupledom. Greedy music execs, merciless paparazzi, and Jake’s wild past are lurking around every corner. Making matters worse, Jake announces he doesn’t want kids, which just may be a deal breaker.

Tru loves Jake more than anything. But when a devastating crisis threatens to destroy everything they’ve fought for, the couple must face the hard truth: What if, this time, love is not enough?

WOW!!  Jeezz where do I start with Wethering the Storm....

Speechless...

Firstly I want to say thanks to Andrea & Simone for letting me review this fabulous book. I had so much to say when I finished WTS that Ii was actually gushing...
I felt I had to put it out there and do it justice, so I asked them if they would mind posting it on here for me... Obviously they said yes, because they ROCK!!!

These books are one of my favourite series, well what can I say. Sexy rock star meets his childhood best friend after 12 years... Like seriously where do you think this is heading ;)

If you haven't read The Mighty Storm, STOP where you are otherwise you will get spoilers...Go buy it & read it right away!!!

Click on pictures for Amazon links

Wethering the Storm took me on an emotional roller coaster right along side Jake & Tru.

WTS takes off right where TMS left us. You best prepare yourself for one hell of a journey!

Tru is now living in LA engaged to be married to JAKE WETHERS. Seriously,  what could go wrong? What with Jake dropping the bombshell of not wanting kids, I know what your thinking 'this can''t be good', his past lurking around every corner and throw Jake's temper in the mix...well, these three things alone are a recipe for disaster...

Tru is in a strange country with no-one familiar around her and she's missing her best friend Simone, her parents & her job. This would put strain on any relationship but then disaster strikes that could destroy everything Tru & Jake have fought for, could this be the end?

Sometimes love just isn't enough!

Personally I loved WTS. I cried...No, actually I wailed at parts, happy tears or sad tears I will not say, but let's just say... have the tissues ready.. Boxes of tissues!!! I love these two, they are a real power couple but does Tru want power? Or, does she just want a quiet life in Manchester with her one true love, Jake the boy next door, not Jake the rock star!

When I started WTS I was a little apprehensive because it is the last book in the series and I didn't want to say goodbye to Jake or Tru. These guys went through so much in TMS that I was hoping for a smooth sailing, happy ending for them in WTS but hey, what book wouldn't be complete without a little bit of drama, eh?

What I loved most about this book was, that you got a feeling it was just a guy and a girl who have been in love since their childhood but what it actually is, is a Rock and Roll romance where they have had to deal with so much drama to get to where they are now. Jake & Tru will be sorely missed on my 'Upcoming Release' list but I will revisit them many times & I'm sure they will have the same effect in 5 years time <3

As you know, in all my reviews I always leave you with my favourite quote but this was a tough one for me to choose, so I'm going to leave you with a quote that, for me, sums up the love between Jake & Tru.

"My love for you is limitless, it knows no bounds. You're in my veins. I bleed you. I belong to you... I always have and I always will." - Jake Wethers

Review

***ARC given in exchange for an honest review

I would like to start by saying Good is the first book I've read from the pen of S. Walden and it certainly won't be the last.

I won't lie I had very conflicting thoughts on this book.
On the one hand I was a bit uncomfortable about the female main character being a 17yr old student and conducting an illicit relationship with her 28yr old math teacher. On the other hand I really liked this story of forbidden love and was compelled to read on!

Cadence Miller was a good girl who made one bad mistake in her junior year in High School and paid the price by being sent to juvenile detention for 10 months. She's now back at High School, as a senior, being treated like a social pariah by the other students and her best friend shunning her. She is desperate to win back the love and approval of her parents. My heart went out to her when she tried so desperately, on many occasions, to seek the approval and acceptance of her disapproving and untrusting parents, mainly her father.

Mark Connelly, is the cool, sexy math teacher who falls for his student. He knows it's wrong to pursue Cadence given her age and she's his student but he is drawn to her. He sees how the other students treat her on her return to school and just wants to make her smile.
He does, however, seem to have a few controlling issues and a hidden past.

I liked the friendship which developed between Cadence and Avery. Avery is a student leader in the youth group at church. She doesn't seem to have many friends but she does have a secret boyfriend, Gavin. Avery suggests they form an alliance to enable them to get what they both want...more freedom. They agree to provide alibis and cover for each other when the need arises. Avery wants to spend more time with Gavin without her parents becoming suspicious. Cadence just wants to be able to drive her car again and go to the mall on her own. She agrees to go along with Avery's plan, even though she has doubts it will work, and soon realises this is the perfect way she can see Mark without anyone finding out.

Although Cadence and Mark don't actually consummate their relationship until she turns 18, at his insistence, I felt slightly uneasy with some of their more intimate, steamier scenes before then. I think, for me, the main problem is the fact she is still at school, he is her teacher and should know better!

Having said that, away from the school setting, I found myself rooting for the couple. I really wanted their relationship to work and by the end of the book I was totally on their side!
The relationship between them doesn't run smooth, of course it doesn't. There are a few surprises waiting for them along the way, threatening to burst their bubble...

I did want to slap Cadence at times, for her displays of childish jealousy, especially when she sees Mark talking to a female teacher, but then I had to remind myself she was only 17.
And, at times, I wanted to shake Mark by the shoulders and shout, 'She's your student for God's sake!'

Good is certainly a page turner as I couldn't put it down once I'd started it. Oh, this book has definitely messed with my mind! I've not stopped thinking about it since and I can't wait for the sequel.
So for that reason I'm giving Good

Excerpt - Angel On The Highway

They couldn’t pick a busier road? Let’s just broadcast to the world what pathetic criminals we are. I was out on Highway 28 dressed in my juvie garb finest—orange jumpsuit with bright yellow vest—walking along the shoulder picking up garbage tossed out of the car windows of other lawbreakers. I’d been assigned to a community service-based juvenile detention center. I guess I wasn’t hardcore enough to make it into the locked-down facilities. And I should have counted myself lucky: I actually got to leave the building on work assignments. Yeah . . . whatever. I was freaking embarrassed. I was embarrassed every time they dumped me on the side of some road to pick up trash. My long blond hair was pulled up in a required ponytail highlighting flushed cheeks that turned a darker shade of red when a truck passed by slowly, honking obnoxiously, its passengers hanging out of the windows yelling at me. “Cadence!” one shouted. “Nice outfit!” I looked down at my jumpsuit. It was unflattering, clinging to my petite body like a baby onesie, but I could get over that. What I couldn’t get over was the hideous color that washed out my fair skin. “Do not respond,” Officer Clements ordered. “I wasn’t going to,” I mumbled, stabbing a Styrofoam cup with my trash stick. “What was that?” Officer Clements asked, towering over me. “Nothing, ma’am,” I replied, and continued my work. Just one more month, I thought, walking and jabbing, walking and jabbing. I didn’t realize I had walked and jabbed my way down the road next to a car parked on the side, hoisted up on a jack. It was an old black Volkswagen, its owner a young man bent over changing a flat tire. Trash was littered about his work area, and I wasn’t sure if I should pick it up. But he seemed so wholly concentrated on screwing in the bolts that I was positive he’d take no notice of me. I speared a burger wrapper near the back of the tire, and his face shot up. My immediate reaction was to turn and run. I was afraid. I remembered a discussion in youth group a while back about angels and how every time they’re mentioned in the Bible, the first thing they say is, “Do not be afraid.” My youth pastor said that this was because angels were scary looking—eyes all over their bodies and under their wings. First of all, how did he know what an angel looked like? And second, why would God make his angels look like a bunch of freaks? No. I didn’t think angels looked like that at all. I thought they looked like perfect symmetry, and that’s what scared the hell out of people. A form too beautiful to look upon. Like this young man bent over his tire, staring at my orange jumpsuit and trash stick, wondering what a little girl like me could have done to land in juvenile hall. Because I was little, after all. I stood at 5-foot-2 and weighed 100 pounds. “I’ll be out of your way in a minute,” he said, wiping his brow with the back of his hand. I nodded and watched him finish tightening the bolts, then stand and stretch his back. He wore the male version of skinny jeans and a black T-shirt that read “Midnight in a Perfect World” across the front in stark white letters. He sported red Converse All Stars, and a bunch of braided bands of various colors were wrapped around his left wrist. His black wavy hair stuck out in all directions, and I couldn’t tell if it was by nature’s blessing or hair product. I hoped it was natural. I didn’t want to think he spent a lot of time styling his hair. He smiled at me, revealing soft dimples on both cheeks. I smiled back. His eyes were light. Good combination, I thought. Dark hair, light eyes. He was sexy. No doubt about that. Tall and lean. He looked like an intellectual. I figured he was some scholarly Emory University boy. Probably a philosophy major, I thought, smirking. I imagined he sat around chatting about existentialism with his hipster friends in some dive coffee shop (never Starbucks) sipping cappuccinos. I giggled. He stood at the trunk of his car putting away his tools and turned around when he heard me. “What’s funny?” he asked. The smile still lingered on his mouth. “Did I split my pants or something?” He strained his head to look behind him at the butt of his jeans. I laughed harder. “No. You didn’t split your pants.” I tried not to look at his butt. “Phew!” he replied. “You know, I’ve done that in the past. Squatted on the ground to change a tire, and rip! Right down the middle. I happened to be on a date at the time.” “No!” I cried, feeling just the slightest bit sorry for this stranger. “Well, the date was on shaky ground once the tire popped. The pants-splitting sealed the deal, though. I guess she equated both of those things with ‘loser’ or ‘no money’,” he said. “That’s awful,” I replied. “Atlanta women are tough,” he went on, leaning against the trunk of his car. He looked me over and grinned. “No, I’m not tough,” I replied to his unspoken question. “Don’t let the jumpsuit fool you.” He shook his head. “What in God’s name could a little thing like you have done to wind up in juvie?” I tensed. His demeanor. The way he talked to me. Like he’d known me for years. And he used “little thing” like a term of endearment. I knew I wasn’t imagining it. He did. I opened my mouth to reply then shuddered at the sound of my name. “Cadence Miller!” Officer Clements yelled. “Shit,” I whispered, and turned around.

He pulled out her chair and she sat, watching his every move as he made his way to his own seat. “I hope this is okay. This is the most private table they have.”
“It’s perfect.” She tried to breathe normally and ignore the strange feeling in her stomach. Trace grinned, revealing the boyish dimples that framed his perfect mouth.
“They have the best steak here. Seriously. You better order one for yourself because you’re not getting any of mine.”
At that, she laughed and her nerves eased up a bit. “Oh, I bet you’d give me a bite if I asked nicely.”
He eyed her from over the top of his menu. “Do you ask for things nicely? I don’t think I’ve ever seen you do that before.”
With her stomach clenching from the heat in his stare, Kylie put her menu aside. “Maybe you’ve never had anything I wanted badly enough to ask nicely for.” He raised a brow and opened his mouth to respond. But at that same moment, a waitress appeared and asked for their drink order. Kylie didn’t miss how flustered the girl became when she got an eyeful of Trace. It would’ve been irritating, but really, with the way he looked tonight, Kylie couldn’t blame her. She was still trying to get a handle on her own self.
When the waitress left, Trace leaned across the table. “Actually, I take that back. I’ve heard you ask nicely a time or two. Matter of fact, it bordered on begging. I think it went something like, ‘Oh God, yes, please. Trace, please.’”
Heat crawled over her skin at his imitation of her. Barely keeping the grin of embarrassment from her face, she shook her head. “You’re not right. What kind of thing is that to say to a girl on a first date?” He grinned back, the promise of something dark gleaming in his eyes.
“Considering this date is going to end with that dress on my bedroom floor and your legs wrapped around my neck, I think it’s a perfectly acceptable thing to say.” Good Lord. What was she going to do with this man? Oh yeah. Exactly what he’d just described.
